The Welsh star, who celebrated her 75th birthday on June 8, is now officially out of the coma, per a new statement from her team on her website, although remains âvery unwell,â to the point that a decision has been made to cancel or postpone the coming dates of her summer tour.
Bonnie Tylerâs health
âBonnieâs family and team would like to update everyone on how she is progressing with her recovery,â the statement from her spokesperson began. Bonnie is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal.â
âAlthough her condition is improving it is a slow process,â it continued. âHer doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time.â
Her summer tour
âAs such we are sorry to tell everyone that we will be cancelling, or postponing until next year where possible, all of our remaining shows this summer,â it added. âThis will affect every current show until the end of August. At present we are still hopeful that our shows in the autumn will go ahead.â
The âTotal Eclipse of the Heartâ singerâs first scheduled show was slated for July 10 in Zwickau, Germany. 10 total shows will be affected, stretching up until the end of August, with the concerts taking place in either Germany or Austria.
âWe [apologize] to all of Bonnieâs fans and to our promoter partners for the disappointment that this will cause but trust that you will understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances. We hope to see you next year instead.â
Bonnieâs current condition
The statement also noted that the singer is conscious enough to receive and express gratitude for the well wishes from her millions of fans worldwide.
âWe would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes,â the statement read. âBonnieâs family continue to ask for privacy and promise that we will issue further updates as soon as there are significant developments to share.â
Her health journey
On May 6, a statement shared on Bonnieâs website confirmed that she had been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal for âemergency intestinal surgery,â although the procedure itself went off smoothly and the singer was said to be recovering.
However, fans were shocked to receive a second update just two days later, which read: âBonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please.âÂ
They did then follow up with a fresh update confirming that while she was still âseriously ill,â she remained stable, and doctors were expecting her to make âa full recovery.â
