Bonnie And Clyde star, 85, makes ultra rare appearance for the first time in two years

Faye Dunaway has stepped back into the spotlight, and in doing so, reminded Hollywood exactly why she remains one of its most enduring icons.

The Bonnie And Clyde star, now 85, made a striking and ultra rare public appearance over the weekend at the 2026 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, marking the first time she has been seen at a major event in two years.

Appearing at a special screening of her Oscar-winning film Network at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX, Faye looked effortlessly elegant in a sharply tailored black suit adorned with bold red floral appliqués. 

A crisp white shirt and minimalist white sneakers added a modern, understated edge to the look, while her softly styled silver hair framed her face with timeless grace.

For fans of classic cinema, her appearance felt momentous. Faye has largely kept a low profile in recent years, choosing to step away from the public eye following the now-infamous moment at the 2017 Academy Awards, when she and Warren Beatty mistakenly announced La La Land as Best Picture instead of the true winner, Moonlight.

Since then, sightings of the actress have been few and far between, making her return all the more special.

Few stars can claim a legacy quite as rich as Faye’s. She first rose to prominence in 1967 with her electrifying portrayal of Bonnie Parker in Bonnie And Clyde, a performance that earned her her first Academy Award nomination and cemented her place in cinematic history.

Her career only soared from there. From the seductive intrigue of The Thomas Crown Affair to the gripping drama of Chinatown, Faye became synonymous with complex, captivating female characters. In 1976, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her unforgettable role in Network, where she played a ruthless television executive, a performance that remains as relevant today as it was nearly five decades ago.

In recent years, Faye has quietly revisited her extraordinary body of work. In 2024, she participated in the HBO documentary Faye, which offered an intimate look at her life and career, earning praise for its candid exploration of both her triumphs and challenges.

She has also spoken movingly about her late co-star Robert Redford, with whom she starred in Three Days of Condor.

“Robert Redford embodied the phrase, ‘the true American elegance’ in every way: physically, emotionally, artistically,” she said in a heartfelt tribute following his death. “He was a heartfelt American original. I am proud and fortunate to have called him a colleague and a friend.”
