Blake Lively breaks cover 300 miles from Taylor Swift’s wedding celebration

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were spotted in Upstate New York on Thursday as rumors swirled about whether the couple received an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebration in NYC. 

The pair, who were previously close friends with the “Cruel Summer” singer, were seen at their daughter Betty’s horse show at Lake Placid on July 2, around 300 miles from Taylor’s rehearsal dinner inside Madison Square Garden.

Blake and Ryan cheered on their six-year-old as she placed second in her competition, per TMZ. The actress looked laid-back in a navy halter-neck tank top and blue denim shorts, with a chunky necklace and a high bun to complete the look.

Ryan opted for a white T-shirt and khaki pants paired with a straw hat and sunglasses. Meanwhile, Taylor’s famous friends filed into MSG on Thursday evening in their red carpet best for what was believed to be the wedding rehearsal dinner, ahead of tomorrow’s nuptials. 

Guests like Jack Antonoff, Lena Dunham, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, and Taylor’s lifelong best friend, Abigail Anderson, were all seen entering MSG ahead of the event, which is shrouded in secrecy. 

Fans waited with bated breath to see if Blake would show up at the rehearsal dinner, considering that Taylor is the godmother of her and Ryan’s three daughters, James, Inez and Betty.

Their close friendship reportedly soured in 2025 amid Blake’s legal battle against Justin Baldoni, which saw her private text messages with Taylor exposed to the public. In the texts, Blake could be seen asking Taylor if their friendship, which began back in 2016, was still okay.

“I have no reason to ask, but I donno [sic], I’ve been feeling like I should…is everything okay?” Blake’s text, sent in December 2024, read. “I felt like a bad friend lately because I was such a sad sack who only talked about my own [expletive] for months. You were generous to not only be the key person there for me during all of it, but also to let me off the hook for being so in it.”

“I felt so stupid, and like it sounded needy and awkward for everyone, especially bc [sic] I can’t explain why I have this feeling,” she continued. “I do want to know everything is good, so I’m asking. I always want the opportunity to be a better friend if there’s something I unintentionally did.”

Taylor responded by confirming that a rift had indeed formed in their friendship. “I think I’m just exhausted in every avenue of my life and in recent months had been feeling a little bit of a shift in the way you talk to me,” the pop star replied.

“It’s more like…and I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts have been so nice in their intent, but your last few…it’s felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.”

“It feels awful to be in any way critical of any way you process what you’ve been going through, but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself.” Blake then apologized and thanked Taylor for letting her know how she was feeling.
