Amy is mom to Gene, seven, whom she welcomed with her ex-husband Chris Fischer.

The C-section took over three hours because of Amy’s endometriosis, and the procedure left her “throwing up through the first hour,” she explained on an episode of the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting Podcast. “That was really scary.”

Amy and Chris filed for divorce in January 2026 after seven years of marriage. “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” the comedian told fans on social media, alongside a photo of herself, Chris and their son on the New York City subway.

Amy has never shied away from being honest about her own health journey, including the recent impact of perimenopause.

Amy told fans she had lost 50lbs

In a video posted on social media in May 2026, Amy clarified reports that she had lost 30lbs, sharing that she had actually lost 50lbs. “Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary,” she wrote. “I did it to survive.”

“I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared,” she added, referencing her Cushing syndrome diagnosis.

Cushing syndrome is a condition where the body has too much cortisol (the body’s primary stress hormone). Symptoms include developing a round face from weight gain, high blood pressure, and changes to the skin, including increased stretch marks.

The Trainwreck star has always been a proud and vocal proponent for championing women and their bodies at all sizes and shapes.

In 2021, she underwent surgery to remove both her uterus and appendix after being diagnosed with endometriosis and developing complications. Months later, she revealed she had also undergone liposuction, acknowledging that some fans may be disappointed in her decision.

“I just wanted to say that, because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they’re like, she looks thinner, and whatever: it’s because I had a surgery,” she told Chelsea Handler. “It’s too hard, and I just want to be real about it.”

In 2023, Amy decided to use the GLP-1 medication Wegovy but suffered from side effects that she could not ignore; “I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son,” she told Andy Cohen.

She has remained transparent about the use of medications and told fans in 2025 that she had begun using the GLP-1 Mounjaro, which was working for her lifestyle.

At 45, Amy is also now taking estrogen and progesterone after realizing her body was entering perimenopause.

Perimenopause is the phase leading up to menopause, during which a woman’s ovaries gradually begin to produce less estrogen. Symptoms begin at different age but typically start in a woman’s 40s. Perimenopause officially ends after 12 consecutive months without a period.

“My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared,” she shared. “My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy.”
