Zara Tindall looked wonderful over the weekend as she was pictured in a cowboy-themed outfit on Instagram. The mother-of-three is currently in the USA with her husband Mike, and the pair frequented a lively restaurant where they posed alongside friends wearing cowboy hats.

Looking in great spirits, Zara can be seen raising her hand in the air as she smiles at the camera. The blonde beauty had her hair teased into a sleek and straight style and perched a fabulous black cowboy hat on her head. Keeping it simple, she teamed the look with a chic white T-shirt and simple, dark denim jeans.

Former England rugby star Mike got in on the action too, sporting a terracotta coloured suede shirt and jeans.

Although he looked wildly excited as he first punched the air, he didn’t don a cowboy hat. Spoilsport!

The rise of the cowboy hat

Although cowboy hats have been around for hundreds of years, the ‘Cowboycore’ trend was officially reinstated by BeyoncĂ© in 2024 when her highly anticipated COWBOY CARTER album dropped. Alongside the record, the Grammy Award-winning singer fully embraced the genre, sporting a Stetson hat at every opportunity, as well as cowboy boots, fringed shirts, leather jackets, and flared jeans.

This trend has never really left the fashion radar; that vintage, lived-in, rustic look is still hugely popular today, almost two years after Beyoncé’s album was released.

The Princess of Wales’s cowboy hat moment

The Princess of Wales actually rocked a cowboy hat with major aplomb before former Destiny’s Child star resurrected it. In 2011, the then-Duchess of Cambridge had not long been married to the future King, Prince William, when the pair embarked on a series of engagements overseas.

As she watched the Calgary Stampede Parade in Canada, the royal was the epitome of cowgirl chic, rocking a pretty white lace shirt and very apt, slim-fit bootcut jeans.

She went full-on rodeo with a chunky buckle belt and a crisp white cowboy hat, which she teamed with a pair of black cowboy boots for the win. We’ve not seen the royal step out in anything remotely similar since then, so it’s wonderful to revisit these pictures.
