Zach Bryan revealed he has been sober for two months after struggling with his mental health.
The singer took to Instagram late Tuesday night to reflect on a 20-day motorcycle trip across the country that led him to figure out that he âreally need[s] some fâking help.â
âBeing in the military for a decade and then thrown into a spotlight that I hadnât fully comprehended the scope of, had some subconscious effects on me as a person,â he said, referencing his time in the Navy.
âI was not content but I also feared showing weakness because thatâs not who I am or how I was raised. To charge forward and to never settle was the motto.â
Bryan, 29, explained that he was âstuck in a perpetual discontent that led [him] to always reach for alcohol, not for the taste, but because there was a consistent black hole in [him] always needing its void filled.â
He also noted that, while dealing with being âlied about and doxxed on the internet,â plus helping two of his friends through medical issues and touring, he âwas having earth-shattering panic attacks.â
âThe anxiety I felt was paralyzing and I thought since I was successful, had the money I always longed for, and had great friends, that I could tough anything out,â he continued before revealing that he began working with a therapist to work through his âtoxic relationship with boozeâ and how to cope âwith major life changes.â
The âPink Skiesâ singer then revealed that he hadnât âtouchedâ alcohol in nearly two months for his own âpersonal clarity.â
âI needed to see the world objectively. My family supported every step I took. Conversations about the future, kids one day, my health and Sammyâs happiness made me prioritize not only myself, but my entire family,â he added, name-dropping his new girlfriend, Samantha Leonard.
He went on to point out that he now feels âgreat,â âcontentâ and âwhole,â adding that there is nothing he needs to get him by anymore.
âIf you or any of your friends are too tough, too scared or too stubborn to reach out, know that the most stubborn dumbass on the planet did and didnât,â he wrote.
âI donât believe in absolutes. One day maybe, Iâll learn to control my habits, but for now; I just want to say it is okay to be weak at times and need help. God speed everyone! I pray this helps somebody.â
In the caption of his post, which accompanied a photo of Bryan playing the piano with a cigarette in his mouth, he clarified that âin no way is this a greater than thou sentiment.â
âIâm aware I am one of the luckiest men alive. I pray people donât take this as me taking my blessings for granted,â he continued.
âI wanted to share this because I feel like a lot of people go through mental struggles at times and feel alone in them, which leads plenty to suffer in silence.
âI hope it helps someone struggling to find words when theyâre down on their luck,â he concluded.
For the last couple of months, Bryan has made headlines for a slew of controversial incidents.
In 2024, the country star split from podcaster Brianna âChickenfryâ LaPaglia after just over a year. Following their breakup, she accused him of being emotionally abusive.
And in September 2025, Bryan was caught scaling a fence and attempting to fight fellow country musician Gavin Adcock.
