At 85, Eric Braeden is quite literally fighting fit. The Young and the Restless icon took to Instagram to share a striking video of himself working out on the beach, and it’s nothing short of remarkable.
In the clip, Eric is seen boxing against a heavy punching bag set up outdoors, with palm trees swaying behind him and the ocean air adding to the cinematic feel of the moment.
Dressed in an all-black workout ensemble and boxing gloves, the actor moves with precision and power, throwing controlled punches as he shifts his weight and maintains strong footing on the sand.
Alongside the video, Eric kept his caption simple yet powerful: “85 and going strong!”
Fans were quick to flood the comments with praise, with many pointing out that his strength, stamina and determination would be impressive at any age, let alone well into his eighties. Others noted how inspiring it was to see someone not just maintaining their fitness, but actively pushing themselves in such a dynamic way.
For those who have followed Eric’s long-standing career, this latest post feels like a natural extension of the resilience he has always embodied.
Best known for his commanding role as Victor Newman, he has spent decades portraying one of television’s most formidable characters, and now, it seems, he’s bringing that same energy into real life.
Eric’s family includes his wife Dale Russel Gudegast and their son Christian Gudegast. The star’s son is also in the entertainment industry, but as a director and writer.
He has worked on A Man Apart, London Has Fallen and Plane. His full-feature debut as a director was for the action film, Den of Thieves. Christian married a jewelry designer, Natasha Gudegast, and the couple share three children.
As for Eric and Dale’s love story, the love birds met at Santa Monica College, where she was an art major, which intrigued him, as a philosophy and economics major.
He expressed: “She went to a Catholic school. She was well-educated and very steeped in European literature. So, there was an affinity,” per The Montanan. The pair got married in 1966 and have been married now for almost six decades.
When they welcomed their son in 1970, the doting father became a dedicated and loving dad. Eric shared with People: “My son is arguably the greatest gift of my life and always has been. We talk to each other almost every night.”
He used the opportunity to not only showcase his fatherly appreciation, but to also give a shoutout to his committed wife. The actor added: “My wife is beautiful. She’s a forgiving, understanding woman and a wonderful mother to our son Christian.”
