Anna Kendrick has now been dragged into the legal drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni thanks to conspiracy theorists who have been vocalizing their wild assumptions online.
Netizens have presented unfounded claims that Kendrick is siding with Baldoni in the messy âIt Ends With Usâ feud.
The theory gained traction after the âPitch Perfectâ actress presented the best director award at the 2025 BAFTA Awards earlier this month.
âWe all have huge respect for directors. Itâs one of the most exhilarating and exhausting jobs in the world, Kendrick told the audience at the star-studded event on Feb. 16.
âItâs juggling a million decisions, answering endless questions and somehow still making sure that the story shines through.â
While Baldoni was not one of the directors nominated in the category, fans theorized that Kendrick was referencing him, as he directed the movie he co-starred in with Lively.
âA dig at Blake Lively and Iâm here for it,â one person wrote in the comments section of a TikTok video of Kendrickâs speech.
âI love u Anna K, that smirk wonât let Blake sleep for days,â a second person wrote.
ââWe all have huge respect for directorsâ â with a little smirk â directed at you Blake,â a third netizen said.
âThe shade is shading,â someone chimed in, with another adding, âTake notes BLAKE!â
âAnna Kendrickâs âNot Like Usâ moment,â claimed another, referring to Kendrick Lamarâs popular diss track about Drake.
Others, however, argued that the internet trolls were âreachingâ with the idea that the actress was at all referring to the âGossip Girlâ alumâs drama with Baldoni.
âPeople reaching with the Blake situation itâs really annoying,â one person said.
âSheâs not shading Blake, although thatâs a funny coincidence,â a social media user wrote, adding, âAnnaâs presenting because she had her directing debut this year with âWoman of the Hour.ââ
Kendrick, 39, and Lively, 37, worked together on the 2018 thriller âA Simple Favor,â and reunited for the sequel, which will be released in March.
Meanwhile, Baldoni, 41, and Lively have been beefing after several disagreements unfolded on the set of their 2024 movie.
Last December, Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and accused him of waging a smear campaign against her after filming wrapped. The New York Times broke the news, writing a lengthy piece about her accusations.
Baldoni denied her claims and fired back by suing the New York Times for libel. He subsequently filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and extortion.
The âJane the Virginâ alum accused Lively of bullying him into letting her take over his director responsibilities for their film.
The movie, which is based off Colleen Hooverâs 2016 novel of the same name, premiered in theaters last August.
Prior to the filmâs debut, rumors swirled that Baldoni and Lively, who played onscreen love interests, were fighting over the final cut of the movie.
Justin and Livelyâs trial is scheduled to begin in March 2026.
