Even royals have to obey the law.
Prince William, who made headlines in recent years for dashing around Windsor Castle and the surrounding areas on an electric scooter, is not allowed to scoot at his new home, Forest Lodge.
Last fall, the Prince of Wales, 43, and his family, the Princess of Wales, 44, and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, moved into what was described as their āforever homeā ā Forest Lodge, which is located within Windsor Great Park.
According to Windsor Great Parkās website, e-scooters and other motorized modes of transportation are not allowed.
āFor reasons of safety and traffic management, we do not allow motorised transport within the Park. Aside from cyclists, the roads are reserved for residents and Estate workers,ā the site states.
The family had been living in Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate, where scooters are permitted.
William showed off his love of scooters during an appearance on the Apple TV series āThe Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.ā
The āSchittās Creekā star was bemused when the royal came puttering along to their meeting on a scooter in the episode, which aired in October
āThis is not what I was expecting,ā Levy exclaimed. āThis is your mode of transportation?ā
āIt is āround here,ā William replied, āit gets around quite nicely around here.ā
The royal also explained, āWe live just outside the castle, but my father spends a lot of time here. We use the castle for work and meetings. And Iām always late, so I thought this was the way to keep my meetings on time.ā
Footage of William atop a scooter first went viral in 2024.
A source explained that āit just makes sense. He whizzes up to the castle when he needs to see the King.
āItās a two- or three-mile round trip from his family home at ĀAdelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle, so itās easier by scooter than car or walking.ā
