Why King Charles is pausing his cancer treatment 8 months after diagnosis

King Charles III is pressing pause on his cancer treatment.

The monarch has a royal visit in Australia scheduled for next week, during which the 75-year-old’s medical care will briefly stop, the Daily Mail reported Sunday.

The outlet noted that Charles’ doctors are “happy” for him to undergo treatment “right up until” his flight and then pause until he returns 11 days later.

He and his wife, Queen Camilla, are expected to take part in up to 10 engagements per day while in Australia with one day of rest.

A source told the Mail that the packed schedule, which Charles’ “mindful” doctors were consulted about, does “prioritize” his health.

The king reportedly will have a travel doctor alongside him.

Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Charles was hospitalized in January for a benign prostate enlargement — and a “separate issue of concern” was discovered during his stay.

His cancer diagnosis made headlines the following month.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” read a palace statement in February, which added that he would “continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

News broke in April that Charles was ready to “return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation.”

By that time, his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton had made her own cancer diagnosis public.

The Princess of Wales, 42, shared her health scare in a March video after sparking conspiracy theories with a January abdominal surgery and a subsequent step back from the public eye.

While Prince William has continued royal duties without his wife at his side for months, Middleton has made appearances at Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour.

Most recently, she attended an August church service in Scotland weeks before announcing she had finished chemotherapy and was on a “path to healing.”

The princess — who is the mother of Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — is not the only female in the royal family to battle cancer this year.

Princess Eugenie’s and Princess Beatrice’s mom, Sarah Ferguson, revealed her skin cancer diagnosis in January.

Six months prior, the Duchess of York, 64, underwent a mastectomy to treat breast cancer.
