The Pussycat Dolls announced they were rejoining for a special 53-date world tour and would be releasing new music ahead of their first performance since they reunited for an album and string of shows in 2019.

Despite their news, fans were left disappointed when they realised the much-loved American girl band’s latest hurrah would only feature three of its six members: Nicole Scherzinger, 47, Kimberly Wyatt, 44, and Ashley Roberts, 44.

The trio’s new tour, PCD Forever, will see them play 53 shows across the UK, US and Europe, starting in California in June. They will also perform their new single, ‘Club Song’, which was released on 12 March.

Landing in the UK on 29 September, the trio will play their first English show in Birmingham, followed by dates in Nottingham, Leeds, Glasgow and other cities, before ending at The O2 in London on 13 October.

However, despite the band’s comeback, three members were left out of the new era’s lineup, and some of them expressed their feelings on social media.

Carmit Bachar, 51, Jessica Sutta, 43, and Melody Thornton, 41, will not be returning for the next wave of the band’s identity.

Why are certain members ‘Out of This Club’?

While the band has not released an official statement explaining why only three of its original six members will return for the reunion, individual Dolls have taken to their social media accounts to publicly share their reactions to the news.

On her Instagram account, which boasts over 140 thousand followers, Carmit reshared a host of posts claiming fans would not attend the reunion shows if she were not part of the lineup.

She shared a number of videos posted by the group’s former producer, Eddie Serrano, to her Stories. In the clips, he could be heard saying: “I’m here to talk about one thing… I have been very close friends with a lot of Pussycat Dolls, Carmit, you know, you’re my sister.

“I’m very upset about this Pussycat Doll ‘reunion’… I do have a problem when I see my home girls, who were very instrumental in building the brand, not a part of this ‘reunion’.

“We need to see them as a unit, not just as three girls, that’s not the Pussycat Dolls, that’s just the ‘Pussy’ without the ‘Dolls.'”

Alongside the re-posted videos, Carmit penned: “Luv you.”

She also reshared a tagged post that mentioned her fellow band member, Jessica, who was also supposedly left out of the reunion.

The post said: “To my dolls, my family, my friends, you guys will never be forgotten, you’ll only be missed. And, it isn’t right to not even be thought to be asked back. We fans are rooting for you… It isn’t PCD without our redheads.”

Jessica also appeared to be upset by the news as she shared a series of quotes to her own Instagram Story that referenced “disappointing people.” She also reposted a tribute to her that said: “To my favourite Doll. I stand with you.”

Melody, who was also absent from the new trio, has remained silent about the reunion so far on her social channels. She was not part of the 2019 reunion despite remaining close friends with Nicole.

A ‘Happily Never After’

This will be the second time a variation of the Pussycat Dolls has reunited for a tour. The band, initially formed in 2003, broke up in 2010 and got back together briefly nine years later, minus Melody.

It was believed at the time that the reason for their split was tension amongst the members after too much focus was placed on lead singer Nicole.

After they went their separate ways, Nicole launched a successful solo career that saw her release songs like ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’, ‘Right There’ and ‘Poison’. She also appeared as a judge on The X Factor. She has also won a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as Norma Desmond in the Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard.
