Whoopi Goldberg is shutting down claims that she was associated with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after her name appeared in the infamous files.
âIn the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes!â the âSister Actâ actress shared on âThe Viewâ Tuesday morning.
Goldberg then read the May 2013 email where her name was mentioned, which stated that she needed a âplane to get to Monacoâ for a charity event.
In response, Epstein denied the plane request, writing, âNo thanks.â
Goldbergâs âViewâ co-host Joy Behar chimed in saying, âSo in other words, anybody can be on this list?â
âThis is my point because when I tell you, people are trying to turn me into ⊠I wasnât his girlfriend, I wasnât his friend. I was not only too old [for him], but it was at a time where this is just not â you used to have to have facts before you said stuff.â
Behar, 83, interjected, saying President Donald Trump is mentioned in the Epstein files â38,000 times.â
âI canât speak to him, but Iâm speaking about me because Iâm getting dragged,â Goldberg, 70, shared.
âPeople actually believe that I was with him. Itâs like honey, come on. Every man that Iâve ever been with, youâve known about because either the Enquirer wrote about it, people wrote about this stuff. So, no.â
âI didnât get on the plane because you know what I would have to do to get on the plane? Theyâre trying to get me to get on a plane [to go to the charity event].â
âViewâ co-host Sara Haines said other stars, such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, were named in the Epstein files due to ânews articles, third-party emails, contacts.â
âWealthy, famous people often cross in professional and social circles, so thatâs not the surprising part,â Haines, 48, added.
Goldberg has been vocal about the Epstein files, which the Department of Justice recently released to the public over the last few months.
Earlier this month, the âColor Purpleâ star called out fellow women who were âcomplicitâ in all of the disgraced financierâs crimes.
âNot only did they protect each other, but we were complicit in all of this. We are complicit,â she said on âThe View.â
When Goldberg was questioned about her stance by her co-hosts, she replied, âWomen didnât say, âHey, donât do that. Donât stand up for that.â Women did not stand up for other women. Women saw what was going on and didnât say, âStop this.â They didnât come out and say this was going on.â
Following a 2005 investigation, Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute, serving 13 months with work release.
He was charged in 2019 with sex trafficking of minors and accused of abusing dozens of underage girls. Epstein died by suicide in jail that year while awaiting trial.
His right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
