Rapunzel has been found for the live-action Tangled movie, and Teagan Croft will be portraying the beloved Disney princess.
In January 2025, Croft and Milo Manheim were cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the upcoming live-action movie.
“Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim are Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the live-action reimagining of Disney’s Tangled. Coming only to theaters,” Disney wrote via X.
Manheim reshared the announcement via his Instagram page, and Croft reacted to the news in the comments section.
“Ohhhh waitttt who is thattt,” she teased.

Teagan Croft’s casting news in the live-action Tangled came following reports she, Sarah Catherine Hook, Olivia-Mai Barrett and Freya Skye were in consideration for the role. After Disney made the official announcement about selecting Croft as Rapunzel, some fans were excited about her being chosen, gushing she embodied Rapunzel to a T.
“THE VISION IS CLEAR TEAGAN CROFT I FULLY TRUST IN YOU AS RAPUNZEL,” one user wrote via X alongside a side-by-side image of Croft and the Disney cartoon character, while a another fan shared, “honestly I didn’t know her before they announced the cast but I LOOOVE Teagan Croft for Rapunzel, SHE’S SUPER CUTE and her expressions remind me so much of Rapunzel, I love it. ”
Other fans expressed their disappointment as they envisioned other actresses to play the part.
“Well I wanted Mckenna Grace to play Rapunzel but im not mad at Teagan Croft. She’s going from raven to rapunzel. no shade to teagan tho shes going do great,” one user replied via X while another declared, “Freya Skye was robbed of Rapunzel casting.”
Another fan posted “justice for MY rapunzel,” and included photos of Avantika and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who previously shared it was her dream to portray Rapunzel in a live-action adaptation.
Teagan Croft Moved to the USA From Australia
Before getting her start in Hollywood, Teagan Croft was born and raised in Sydney. As a child, she performed in a local adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. In 2016, Croft and her family moved from Australia to Chicago.
Teagan Croft Is Best Known for Playing Raven
Teagan Croft’s breakout role was on the DC series Titans as Rachel, also known as the superhero Raven. The drama was based on the comic Teen Titans. Croft starred in the project alongside Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop and Ryan Potter. Titans premiered in 2018 and ran for four seasons before coming to an end in 2023.
What Are Teagan Croft’s Other Projects?
Two years before snagging the role in Titans, Teagan Croft landed a recurring role in the soap opera Home and Away. She made her film debut in 2016’s The Osiris Child. In 2022, Croft worked on the short films Bella and Bernie and Woman of a Certain Sage, which she both starred in and served as an executive producer. Croft also appeared in the 2023 film True Spirit.

Teagan Croft is the niece of Australian actresses Penny McNamee and Jessica McNamee.
Penny is best known for originating the role of Nessarose in the Australian premiere of Wicked. She previously starred in Home and Away as Dr. Tori Morgan. She also wrote the Stage Stars book series. Penny is currently starring in the Australian production of MJ the Musical as Rachel.
Jessica also got her start on Home and Away before landing roles in The Vow, Chips, Battle of the Sexes, The Meg and Mortal Kombat. Jessica recently appeared in the TV series Sirens and will reprise her role in the Mortal Kombat sequel.
