Who is Jack Brooksbank? Everything you need to know about Princess Eugenie’s husband

Since their first meeting in 2010, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have shared more than a decade of milestones, from their royal wedding to welcoming three children.

The younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson has described her husband as her “hero,” “the greatest human” and “one of the best people on the planet.”

Eugenie and Jack officially became a family of five in 2026 with the birth of their first daughter, who was born in Lisbon. Because of Jack’s work, the family splits their time between the UK and Portugal.

How did they meet?

According to Jack, it was “love at first sight.” The pair first met while skiing in Verbier, Switzerland back in 2010, and were introduced by mutual friends. 

“We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24,” Eugenie said in their engagement interview. “And fell in love and we have the same passions and drive for life.”

Jack was previously a brand ambassador for Casamigos, the tequila brand founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. Speaking about his career in hospitality, he once told the Daily Mail: “I want to create a chain of pubs. It has been my dream since I was 18. I have fond memories of Sunday roasts in pubs with log fires, and it’s something I want to recreate.”

In 2022, The Telegraph reported that Jack had landed a new job, working for Mike Meldman’s Discovery Land Company, which had “been developing the 722-acre plot, tucked between the sought-after villages of Comporta and Melides” in Portugal.

Who are Jack’s parents?

Jack is the son of the late George Edward Hugh Brooksbank and his wife Nicola. He has a younger brother named Thomas Brooksbank, who served as his best man at his wedding to Eugenie in 2018. “They’re really, really wonderful people,” Eugenie said of Jack’s family in 2018. “And they’ve been so lovely in this whole time. Seven years, you get to know people really well. They’re already parents and little brother.”

Jack is a descendant of the Brooksbank baronets, and he and Eugenie are actually blood relatives (albeit very, very distant). The Princess’ mother, Sarah, is the great-great-granddaughter of Lady Julia Coke, who is the daughter of Jack’s great great grandfather, Thomas Coke.

The couple got engaged in January 2018 during a trip to Nicaragua. Their engagement was announced in a statement that read: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr. Jack Brooksbank. Her Royal Highness and Mr. Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month. The wedding will take place in the Autumn of 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.”

Speaking about the happy news, Jack’s parents, Nicola and George Brooksbank, said: “We could not be more delighted with the news of the engagement. We are completely over the moon and are very excited for them both.” 

In Jack’s first-ever TV interview with The One Show in 2018, Eugenie revealed that it was an “incredible moment” when her partner – then of seven years – asked her to be his wife.

She said: “The lake was so beautiful, it was a special light and I even said ‘this is an incredible moment’ and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we had been together seven years. It was the perfect moment because we knew it was going to end up this way.” She added “I was over the moon, crying.”

The couple tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12, 2018. The ceremony was attended by members of the royal family, including Eugenie’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

In an interview with Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes ahead of her wedding, Eugenie admitted: “It’s nerve-wracking and a bit scary and all the things that come with getting married, but at the end of the day you get to marry the person you love… [looking at Jack] and you’re going to be at the end of the aisle, and I’m going to be running towards you!”

How many kids do Eugenie and Jack have?

Eugenie and Jack became first-time parents in 2021 with the birth of their son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. They then welcomed their second son, rnest George Ronnie Brooksbank, in 2023 and their daughter in 2026. The couple paid tribute to Jack’s father with their son Ernest’s middle name “George.”
