Wendy’s has confirmed what the internet has excitedly suspected.

In a press release obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, March 6, the fast food chain announced that the rumored Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions will be making their debut to locations this spring.

With Frosty Swirls, customers will be able to add — or shall we say swirl — a tasty sauce into a Classic Chocolate or Vanilla Frosty. Frosty Fusions will blend a customer’s choice of sauce with additional mix-ins for a one-of-a-kind flavor Wendy’s experience.

The news came on the brand’s Investor Day where innovative announcements were introduced in conjunction with expansion plans for new restaurants. According to the press release, the Wendy’s Company is looking to open an additional 1,000 locations by 2028 as it leans into investments of “technology and operations to enhance the customer experience.”

The arrival of Frosty Swirls and Fusions was first rumored by a snack-centric Instagram blogger that allegedly had inside intel that the brand was in development to “vastly extend the customizability of the Frosty,” as mentioned in the Instagram post from Feb. 15. Wendy’s did not confirm the online rumors or provide an official statement at the time.

The new additions and advancement plans are coming on the heels of Wendy’s latest collaboration with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). The limited-edition sweet treat, Thin Mints Frosty, comes with a minty-chocolate swirl that has a “crumbly, cookie butter-esque texture,” according to the press release.

Though it’s unclear how long the cookie-inspired Frosty will be on the menu, a Wendy’s representative confirmed with PEOPLE at the time of the release that the traditional chocolate and vanilla Frostys will continue to be available during its run.

New food items aren’t the only things changing in the classic food chain locations. On the fourth-quarter earnings call that happened on Thursday, Feb. 13, Tanner announced that nearly 6,000 U.S. restaurant locations will employ artificial intelligence at the drive-thru windows.

This A.I. feature will join Wendy’s current ordering assistant, nicknamed FreshAI, which began testing in locations in 2023. FreshAI, a collaboration with Google Cloud, is currently in about 100 test locations. Tanner hopes to expand the technology to 500 to 600 locations by the end of the year.
