Victoria Beckham belongs in a music box in fairytale ballerina dress – and 00s bob

Victoria Beckham’s wardrobe largely consists of her eponymous clothing brand, marked by timeless neutral colourways, sharp tailoring and satin slip dresses.

Fans may have been surprised, therefore, to see her wearing a very unexpected ballerina dress in an unearthed photo from 2008. Marking designer Marc Jacobs’ birthday, she took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo from their time working together on the S/S 2008 ad campaign, in which the former Spice Girl admitted she “had so much fun.”

Dressed in a pastel pink maxi dress with a leg split that revealed her micro shorts layered underneath, Victoria executed her best dancer pose, with one tanned leg pointed to the side while her arms were positioned elegantly overhead. The pose was reminiscent of a tutu-clad ballerina in a 90s music jewellery box, which often featured wind-up mechanisms that played ‘Swan Lake’.

To complete her high fashion look, Victoria accessorised with a black belt that accentuated her waist, a matching black feathered hair accessory that drew the eye to her noughties sharp bob, and a Barbie pink handbag.

Professional relationship

Despite admiring Marc’s work, Victoria admitted she kept him in the dark when it came to launching her own clothing label.

“When I came out with my first collection, I didn’t even tell Marc,” she told Vogue. “Well, I felt a little bit embarrassed. He’s Marc Jacobs. What else can I say? I never really told him, and then we went to dinner and he said congratulations on all the reviews and the quality of my work.

“I’ve learned so much from him. I am such a sponge whenever I’m around him. He is one of the most intelligent, interesting people that I have ever met.”

Family drama

Victoria has developed a successful fashion and beauty brand over the years, resulting in her being honoured as a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture at the beginning of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week earlier this year.

Despite her husband, David Beckham, and their four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, being pillars of support for her during fashion shows over the years, this milestone was bittersweet without her eldest son.

Tensions have been brewing since Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz in 2022, and she failed to wear one of VB’s designs, but they reached fever pitch in January when he released a bombshell statement claiming his mother pulled out of the wedding dress design at the “eleventh hour”, and his parents “place countless lies in the media” to maintain their reputation.

Now, insiders have told HELLO! his A-list mother reportedly “wants to move forward with dignity and grace.”

They said, “Victoria didn’t want to hide this moment in Paris. It was bittersweet as she would have loved Brooklyn to have been there if the situation was different.

“She wants to move forward with dignity and grace. They’re focusing on the positives, including Victoria’s achievement and Cruz’s concert in London next month. If anything, this has all brought them closer than ever, just sadly without Brooklyn,” they added.
