Vanessa Lachey is not blind to the age gap in her relationship.
The 44-year-old revealed that she often makes jokes to her husband of 14 years Nick Lachey about their seven-year age difference.
“I tell him all the time, ‘When I was 12, you were 19,'” Vanessa exclusively told E! News. “He’s like, ‘Don’t say that.'”
And Nick, 51, admitted that the reminder doesn’t make him feel great, quipping during the joint interview, “That’s when it just sounds creepy.” (For more from Nick and Vanessa, tune into E! News tonight, Feb. 13, at 11 p.m.)
But apart from inspiring the occasional joke, the 98 Degrees singer doesn’t feel like the age difference impacts their marriage that much.
“Seven years feels like seven months,” he explained. “When you get to be this point in life, seven years is nothing.”
And while Vanessa—who shares kids Camden, 12, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8, with Nick—agreed that age “ain’t nothing but a number now,” she noted that it certainly factored into the couple’s dynamic when they first met.
