US Attorney General Todd Blanche has shared insight into the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today star Savannah Guthrie.
Nancy went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, and authorities have found little evidence pointing to her whereabouts.
Toddâs heartbreaking update
Both the Pima County Sheriffâs Department and the FBI are working on the case, with Todd sharing that the bureau was on hand to support the local police.
âI think whether the FBI takes the lead, we are there to support. And President Trump pledged it, [FBI] Director [Kash] Patel pledged it, the resources, anything that that investigation needs,â he explained on Meet the Press. âWeâre going to continue to do that.â
âWe are working as hard as we can with the state and local law enforcement in every area, and that means not only providing assistance with manpower, but any sort of forensic assistance,â he continued.
âWhether we come in with sharp elbows and take it over [the case], thatâs not necessarily the right thing to do for her or for anybody, but making sure that itâs done right and making sure that this investigation is being conducted the way that it should be is something that weâre doing,â Todd said.

The Attorney General added that he could not provide an update on the case, as much as he wished.
âI know that this type of case is heartbreaking, especially when it plays out nationally, like this one has,â he said. âAnd I share the grief and the frustration thatâŠthe whole country has, in this situation.â
Inside Nancyâs disappearance
Authorities believe Nancy was taken from her home by force in the early hours of February 1, after having dinner with her daughter and son-in-law the previous night.
Although evidence has been hard to come by, the FBI did release chilling footage of a masked and armed man trying to dismantle Nancyâs doorbell camera on the night of her disappearance.
The Pima County Sheriffâs Department revealed on Monday that they were currently investigating human remains that were discovered in the desert near Nancyâs Arizona home. âPCSD Search & Rescue deputies are responding to reports of human remains found in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard,â the department said in a statement.
âThe remains appear to have been at the location for an extended period of time. At this time, there is no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,â it continued. âAdditional information will be released as it becomes available.â
Nancyâs daughter, Savannah, has continued to plead for information as to her motherâs whereabouts, and shared a heartbreaking message on social media in July.
âWe are in a nightmare that will not end; nothing about our situation has changed,â she said. âWe have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our heartsâŠHelp us bring this situation to an end.â
