In July 2019, Epstein—who had been convicted on charges of soliciting a child for sex in 2008—was arrested and charged with sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors between 1994 and 2004.
At the time, Trump himself, who had previously boasted Epstein as a “terrific guy” to New York magazine in 2002, told White House reporters of Epstein, per the New York Times, “I had a falling out with him. I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.”
