Unrecognizable Joe Biden looks like a young Tom Cruise in handsome throwback from his 20s

A throwback photo of former US President Joe Biden has stunned fans on social media after several users pointed out that he looked exactly like Tom Cruise as a young man.

The photo featured Joe in his early 20s, dressed in a red button-up shirt as he smiled at the camera while holding a bottle in a paper bag.

Joe’s tall stature, floppy brown hair and handsome features were on full display in the photo, and fans couldn’t get enough of his debonair look. “Looks like…Tom Cruise,” one fan wrote on Instagram, while another added: “Well damn,” and a third labeled him a “stud”.

The politician’s fans had a similar reaction over on Reddit, with one writing: “What a charmer,” while a second declared him “very handsome indeed” and another said: “Now [I] totally see where [Joe’s son] Hunter got his good looks from.”

Joe’s daily workout routine

The 83-year-old has always been a stickler for exercise due to the bevy of health issues he has endured over the years. In 2021, he revealed on the Here’s the Deal podcast that he enjoyed working out in his home gym every day.

“It’s hard to get into a really regular schedule, but for me, I’ve been sticking to a routine, and it helps. It helps me deal with my day,” he explained. “I try to get out of bed by eight o’clock in the morning, and I have a gym in my house upstairs. I have a treadmill and a Peloton bike and some weights.”

“And I try to work out every morning for me. That sort of gets me going. And then I take a shower and go down, have something to eat,” he continued. 

“I usually have a protein shake, and the day starts usually with somewhere between 40 minutes and an hour and a half meeting with the medical staff [dealing with the pandemic].”

Joe has been battling prostate cancer for over a year now, after being diagnosed in May 2025. He shared an update on his condition via X in September, and urged others to get checked as early as possible to avoid the spread of the disease.

“Every September we mark Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. This year it’s more personal for me,” he wrote. “More than 330,000 American men this year will hear the words we did last spring when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. By the time we found it, it had already spread to my bones.”

“When prostate cancer is caught early, the five-year survival is close to 100%. So have the conversation with your doctor. Don’t put it off,” he continued. 

“I am deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who helped to control my cancer and who continue to take such good care of me. Their skill, dedication, and compassion mean so much.”

Joe went on to reveal that his radiation treatment had worked, giving him more time with his loved ones.

 “Thank you to everyone who has reached out and continues to keep me and my family in your prayers. We appreciate every single one of you. It’s my hope and prayer that by sharing our experience and being part of this important conversation, we can help save lives.”
