Eric Mabius has pleaded not guilty following his Florida arrest.
The Ugly Betty alum, 53, was arrested around 2 a.m. local time on Feb. 20 on two misdemeanor charges and he issued a not guilty plea via his attorney four days later, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE.
Heâs facing a battery charge and resisting arrest without violence, and according to the arrest report obtained by PEOPLE, Mabius was âextremely intoxicated and kept trying to yell at everyoneâ in the bar he was in on the night of his arrest.
Per the arresting officerâs report, Mabius knocked two women to the ground at the bar â one was identified as Jennifer Moreno, who was also arrested that night â and the victim told police that he âgot on top of her and was pulling her hairâ and âripping a handful of her hair from her scalpâ until other patrons pulled him and Moreno off her.
A witness corroborated the story, too, and told the officer that Mabius âslung both girls to the ground,â referring to Moreno and the alleged victim.
When police arrived at the bar, Mabius âbecame more belligerentâ and was ânot following simple commands.â At one point he âtried to stand up and walk behindâ the officer who was âinvestigating the incident,â per the report.
âSeveral deputies had to escort [Mabius] back to the bench and placed him under arrest for resisting without violence,â per the report.
Later that day, Mabius signed a no-contact order for Amelia Bell, the alleged victim, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. The order was a requirement for him to be released from police custody on bond while awaiting trial on the charges.
Mabius is not to have âoral or written communication in any formâ with the alleged victim and remain more than 500 feet away from the alleged victimâs residence, vehicle and place of employment.
