Tyra Banks lost her home in the Los Angeles fires.
The supermodel revealed on the Australian morning show âSunriseâ Monday that her and partner Louis BĂ©langer-Martinâs house burned down, explaining why she had not âreally talked about itâ publicly yet.
âI just didnât want to pull a lot of attention to me,â she said. âI feel like thereâs a lot of people that need that attention. ⊠But I canât sit here and not tell the truth.â
Banks, 51, went on to describe the moment she found out her property had been destroyed.
âWe were at a friendâs house here, and we were celebrating and having fun,â she recalled. âI kept checking my phone, not for my house, but for friends and family, making sure they were evacuating and everything.
âAnd then I asked my partner, I was like, âIâm seeing something here, what do you think?â and he [nodded],â the former âAmericaâs Next Top Modelâ host continued.
Banks âpulled it together and just didnât say anything to [her] friends and just stayed in the moment.â
She added, âAnd then we went home, and we cried, and we had our moment.â
The former Victoriaâs Secret Angel clarified that she, BĂ©langer-Martin and her 8-year-old son, York, primarily divide their time between their homes in New York and Australia.
âA lot of those memento-mementos are here and in New York, so I didnât lose that, thank goodness,â she assured viewers.
However, Banks acknowledged, âThere were some mementos that we lost. ⊠Itâs tough.â
The Daytime Emmy winner subsequently took to Instagram to address her followers in a post captioned, âI feel weird.â
In the footage, however, she did not mention the wildfires and instead said that âit felt nice to put on some clothes, put on some makeupâ and talk about her ice cream ventures on the morning show.
Banks is one of many A-listers whose homes have been reduced to ash, with Candy Spelling, Paris Hilton and more starsâ mansions falling victim to the wildfires in California.
At least 27 individuals have died in the tragedy, with the destruction continuing due to the areaâs infamous Santa Ana winds.
