When you enter Tyler Hubbard’s house, class may just be in session.
The country singer, 38, and his wife, Hayley Hubbard, recently decided to homeschool their three children — Olivia, 7, Luca, 5, and Atlas, 4. The experience has been a rewarding adventure for the entire family.
“The traditional schooling approach just didn’t feel like it was probably for me or for my kids,” Tyler exclusively shared with Us Weekly while partnering with Polaris. “I didn’t feel like it was for me when I was growing up, and they were in a cool Montessori school for a little while and they liked it, but I feel like for the flexibility aspect and having that in our life has just been really nice.”
With Tyler continuing to travel across the country amid his thriving solo career post-Florida Georgia Line, the “5 Foot 9” singer appreciates the flexibility and ability to be hands-on with his children.
“Being the ones that get to teach our kids life and the majority of the things early on, it just felt like an opportunity that we really wanted to take,” he explained to Us. “It just felt like it would be rewarding and time well spent.”
While Tyler joked that he is an expert in subjects that involve “motors or sports or recreational activities,” he was quick to give his wife credit for being the MVP of teaching.
“She goes over and beyond on all levels of life, and it’s just cool to see her take this on,” Tyler shared. “It was certainly a commitment and something that requires a lot of time and attention and discipline. She really shines, and it has been really cool to see.”
Tyler said the kids are “loving” the arrangement and able to experience spring break with a twist.
“Honestly, they’ve been out in Idaho as well, just skiing their little hearts out and having a blast and doing the homeschool out there,” he revealed. “They’ve sort of been on spring break, if you ask me, but it’s been a really cool thing to watch them grow and learn to do different things.”
Tyler himself is proud to call himself a “sledneck” after partnering with global powersports leader Polaris.
In addition to appearing in snowmobile hall of famer Levi LaVallee’s upcoming “Lunch with Levi” series, the Grammy nominee has been able to experience Polaris snowmobiles on snow-covered mountains.
“I got into the snowmobile world a little bit in Idaho actually, matter of fact, where my wife grew up, and I met some buddies out there,” he shared. “I started renting snowmobiles a few times now and then just recently teamed up with Polaris and it just continued to further my passion for snowmobiles and all things with a motor.”
When Tyler is able to escape a big city, he can’t help but fall in love with the beauty of nature.
“Anytime I can be in the mountains, I feel really at home, really at peace and really myself, really close to God and all those things,” he said. “It’s time well spent and anytime I have a little bit of off time, I try to get out to the mountains.”
