Tristan Thompson was dragged online for calling Rob Kardashian’s daughter, Dream, his own child while estranged from his son Theo.
The Cleveland Cavaliers center referred to 8-year-old Dream as his “oldest daughter” in a video posted on his Snapchat Story on Thursday.
“I have two daughters, and their names are … Dream is my oldest daughter and True is the second oldest,” he said. “Those are my two girls, and I miss you guys so much. I love you guys.”
Critics were quick to call out Thompson, 33, for the bizarre comment given he does not have a relationship with his 3-year-old son, Theo, whom he conceived with Maralee Nichols while dating Kardashian’s sister Khloé Kardashian.
“Claiming another persons child as his daughter but has never seen one of his sons, oh Tristan,” a Reddit user wrote in the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” Subreddit.
“What abt the son he never met ? Funny how he can claim a child that is not even his, but doesn’t claim or see his own bio children. He is a bum!” a second person commented.
“Ew what the f–k. go claim your son,” a third Redditor chimed in, while another agreed Thompson was “claiming everybody’s child except his own.”
However, some supporters defended the athlete and pointed out that Khloé treats Dream as her own child after Rob’s messy 2016 breakup with the girl’s mother, Blac Chyna.
“I would guess that he is extending Khloe’s treatment of Dream. When Khloe treats Dream like her own, she comes off as a good aunt,” one Reddit user noted.
Thompson notoriously denied he was Theo’s father until a paternity test proved otherwise and he was forced to eat crow in January 2022.
“Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols,” he wrote on his Instagram Story at the time. “I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established I look forward to amicably raising our son.”
The NBA star also issued an apology to Khloé, 40, for cheating on her again.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both privately and publicly,” he wrote.
Nichols, a fitness model, gave birth to Theo in December 2021 — just one month after Khloé and Thompson conceived Tatum via surrogate.
The basketball player has been slammed in the past for not posting social media photos of Theo despite constantly raving about his three other children: 8-year-old son Prince, whose mother is Jordan Craig, as well as 6-year-old daughter True and 2-year-old son Tatum, whom he shares with the “Kardashians” star.
