Travis Kelce wants Jason Kelce to join him on the field at Super Bowl LIX.
âOf course I wish Jason was out there. Being at the mountaintop with your brother is something special that Iâll never forget. Obviously, being so close to him retiring, I wish he would have played another year,â Kelce, 35, told reporters at a press conference on Monday, February 3. âBut heâs very content where he is in life right now, and Iâm happy as hell for him. He gets to be around his family and his baby girls a little bit more.â
Travis added: âIâll go out there and try and represent the family as best I can.â
Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles â Jasonâs former team â in New Orleansâ Caesars Superdome on Sunday, February 9. In 2023, the tight end faced off against his Jason, 37, in Super Bowl LVII, which ended with the Chiefs defeating the Eagles, 38 to 35. Jason retired from the NFL last year.Â
As of last week, the elder Kelce brother was undecided about which teamâs merch to wear at the big game.
âWe need to get you a mom jacket [or] a jersey,â Travis told Jason on the Wednesday, January 29, episode of their âNew Heightsâ podcast, referring to their mother Donna Kelceâs split Eagles/Chiefs clothing pieces. âWe got to get a cut-and-sew action here where we can get you cheering for both teams like momâs done, year in [and] year out.â
While Jason appreciated the idea, he clashed with it on principle.Â
âI canât wear red,â he stated. âI canât wear it. I canât bring myself to it.â
Instead, Jason was considering an alternative to the Chiefsâ signature color.Â
âIâm gonna wear my âNew Heightsâ Big Yeti shirt,â he said on the podcast, adding that heâd don the yellow rather than the red version of the shirt. Travis, for his part, supported his siblingâs sartorial choice.Â
Jason made sure to clarify that heâll be rooting for the Eagles and the Chiefs come Sunday.
âObviously, youâre my brother. Iâll always root for my brother. Thatâs the reality of it. All right,â he said, adding, âI would be lying if I said I donât want the Eagles to win. You know what I mean? I want them to, but I also want Travis Kelce to win. So, thatâs a long-winded way of saying I just want to see a good football game, and whoever wins, Iâm going to be happy for that guy.â
