Travis Barker, daughter Alabama had ‘awful’ feeling before his 2008 plane crash

Travis Barker recalled the eerie premonition his daughter, Alabama Barker, had before he survived a plane crash in 2008 that killed four people.

During Monday’s episode of Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast, the Blink-182 drummer opened up about the fateful moment he shared with his daughter before he hopped on a flight to perform a show near the University of South Carolina in September 2008.

“I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time, she’s like 3 or 4 years old,” Travis, now 50, recalled. “She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling, and she doesn’t usually do that.”

“She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?’”

The “All the Small Things” rocker explained that he tried bailing on the concert, but his manager wouldn’t let him.

“I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he’s like, ‘Bro, you can’t cancel this late,’” he remembered. “So, I ended up flying out there.”

Travis said he was supposed to fly home the day after the concert, but because everyone he was with “was in a hurry to get home,” they booked a private plane “super last-minute.”

That also meant he couldn’t ask his routine questions about the pilots or the maintenance of the plane.

The musician explained that when he and his group pulled up to the “small” plane, he was immediately fearful for the trip.

“I’m like, ‘This can’t be our plane. There’s no way.’ And they’re like, ‘Yep, this is the plane,’” he shared.

Travis also recalled calling his dad and expressing that he had “an awful feeling,” but his father convinced him to get on board.

“[I] got on the plane but I knew something feels off,” he remembered. “I even told my dad, ‘If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.’ I was saying way too much. All the signs were there.”

Travis was traveling with his assistant Chris Baker, security guard Charles “Che” Still and his close friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein.

Both Baker and Still died in the crash, along with both of the pilots. Travis and Goldstein were the only two who survived. Goldstein died a year later from a prescription drug overdose.

Travis, meanwhile, was in the hospital for 11 weeks after sustaining third-degree burns on more than half of his body. He underwent 27 separate surgeries to repair the damage.

The rocker — who shares Alabama, 20, and son Landon, 22, with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler — did not fly for the next 13 years, until he traveled to Mexico with wife Kourtney Kardashian in August 2021.

Travis noted on Shetty’s podcast that if he felt unsafe about a plane today, he’d handle things much differently than he did back then.

“Now older me would just say, ‘I think I’m not gonna get on the plane,’” he said. “Everything was there. And I never felt like that before.”

This isn’t the first time Travis has spoken about the traumatic experience. He previously revealed how Alabama predicted the tragic plane crash in his 2015 memoir, “Can I Say.”

“[She] just kept saying, ‘The roof’s gonna come off, Dad, the roof’s gonna come off,” he wrote in his book.
