Tori Spelling shared her terrifying evacuation experience after fleeing the Los Angeles wildfires that have been blazing through the city.
The âBeverly Hills, 90210â alum took to Instagram Friday to reveal sheâs been avoiding addressing the fires on social media since the platform was already filled with âamazing kindness, sorrowful loss, helpful shares, and pleas.â
However, after her and her five children â Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12 and Beau, 7 â were forced to evacuate their Woodland Hills rental house, she felt she had to speak out.
âThe post I didnât want to have to do⊠days of watching destruction and monitoring and living in fear,â the 51-year-old wrote in a lengthy caption attached to photos of herself, her son Beau, and their German Shepard enjoying the outdoors.
âI havenât posted or shared bc social media was saturated. amazing kindness , sorrowful loss, helpful shares, and pleas. I didnât want to be redundant.â
âBut, last night we were evacuated,â the âScary Movie 2â actress penned. âI tried my best to hang in there and not just flee to flee but we had too finally. My hearts are w/everyone who have lost and suffered so much. But, as a mama bear w/5 kiddos & fur babies your gut tells you when itâs time to take action.â
The âDancing With the Starsâ alum went on to admit that she regrets not escaping the Kenneth Fire sooner, which many friends advised her to do.
âAnd, all the amazing apps and LIVES that have been keeping us updated. In a SUV me and 5 kids, 3 large dogs, 1 cat, and a ferret left unplanned. Friends who care, told me for days to pack and have a plan. I should have listened,â she wrote.
Spelling said she and her kids left Los Angeles without knowing where they were going, but a new friend with connections to Airbnb set them up with a place to stay.
âI fit us all in barely. No clothes. But grabbed photo albums. And fled. In a non planned panic I reached out to my friend I made recently Jami Schwartz. She had mentioned at Iheart jingle ball in December she works with @airbnb .i knew it was a long shot but as I just drove my kids onto the 101 N with no plan she responded! @airbnb saved us!â the âBH90210â alum revealed.
âLiterally! They stepped in and found something to house our massive family and pets and same night. Jami and Taylor I will forever be grateful! With terrified kids and one w/terrible asthmaâŠI drove.â
Spelling went on to admit that her kids questioned her decision making at the time, as she appeared to be driving straight into the fire.
âMy kids said âMom. You sure we should go this way? Freeway is standstill other direction. We are headed right into the fires,ââ Spelling wrote.
âIndeed we were. Mother instinct took over and I pressed on north on 101. As we drove literally thru it and smoke coming thru car vents⊠I told my children to take a deep breath and hold and put T-shirts over their noses and mouths.âÂ
âI said then âThis is scary but hopeful. We will drive thru it and past. It will be ok. I promise you all â We pressed on. Leaving behind a burning LA. Indeed we were ok. We are some of the lucky ones. It looked and felt like a movie Iâd seen too many times,â she wrote.
âWhile on the road @taylorgandy w/ @airbnb stayed with us. My daughter Stella texting him as I drove. 1 place popped up. Taylor and amazing owners of our current #airbnb connected. We are safe. Woke up to koi pond & a monarch butterfly sanctuary. Thanks Dad! #synchronicity,â Tori concluded her post, thanking her late dad, TV producer Aaron Spelling, for helping guide them to safety.
Spellingâs post comes one day after it was revealed that her mom, Candy Spelling, lost her $23 million Malibu beach house in the Palisades Fire.
âIâm in shock and processing this massive loss for our family. I am beyond grateful for the memories. It was truly a wonderful gift to have,â Candy told TMZ on Friday.
Candy is one of many celebrities who lost their homes during the widespread Palisades Fire over the last few days.
Paris Hilton watched her $8.4 million Malibu vacation home âburn to the ground on live TV,â while âGossip Girlâ actress Leighton Meester and her husband, âNobody Wants Thisâ actor Adam Brody, also lost their home in the fire.
Other affected include Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Anna Faris, Miles Teller and Keleigh Teller, Eugene Levy, Anthony Hopkins, Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Sandra Lee.
