Timothy Busfield has been formally charged in the shocking child sex abuse case against him.

The embattled actor, 68, was indicted on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child by a grand jury in New Mexico on Friday, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office revealed in a press release.

“As with all criminal proceedings, Mr. Busfield is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law,” Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman said in a statement, per NBC News.

“This case will proceed through the judicial process and is expected to move forward to trial,” he added.

Bregman also revealed that the child sex abuse case against Busfield will be prosecuted by the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office’s special victims unit, and that no further information would be released at this time.

This latest development comes less than a month after the “Thirtysomething” and “West Wing” actor was arrested on charges of child abuse and criminal sexual contact of a minor on Jan. 13.
