Baylen Dupree is not your average 22-year-old.

PEOPLE can exclusively debut TLC’s brand new series, Baylen Out Loud, which follows the TikToker’s life as she navigates a rare form of Tourette syndrome.

“Baylen Out Loud will inspire audiences as they watch Baylen push herself outside her comfort zone in pursuit of the independent life she’s always dreamed of,” reads a synopsis for the show. “After years of feeling self-conscious about her condition, Baylen is finally ready to live freely, embracing her authentic self and showing the world that Tourette doesn’t define her. With the support of her family and friends, Baylen is ready to stretch her wings.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, Tourette syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by rapid, repetitive and involuntary muscle movements or sounds (tics).

Tics can also range from mild to severe and, in some cases, they can be debilitating and lead to self injuries, per the Tourette Association of America. The frequency and severity of tics also change regularly, and can be in response to factors like stress, anxiety, excitement, fatigue, illness and more.

After she was officially diagnosed with the disorder at age 18, Baylen went on share her story with the internet and has since amassed almost 10 million TikTok followers.

In Baylen Out Loud, the 22-year-old gives fans an inside look at her life alongside her parents Allen and Julie, five siblings and her boyfriend Colin who provide her support, love and humor throughout her journey.

“My name is Baylen
and I have Tourette syndrome — and a little baby weenie,” Baylen says with a British accent in PEOPLE’s exclusive trailer.

“Tourette syndrome causes me to have involuntary motor and vocal tics,” she continues, as scenes of her compulsions play on screen. After exclaiming phrases like “wind it up,” “your mom’s built like a falafel” and “my mom has crabs,” Baylen shares how her tics can affect her day-to-day life.

Though the internet personality faces unique struggles due to her diagnosis, her family is just like any other. She has “four crazy, loud brothers” and a sister she fights with over clothes.

“Having a sister with Tourette’s is very crazy,” her sister Sammi tells cameras. “You don’t know if you’re going to get slapped in the face or get a hug.”

In addition to her family members, Baylen introduces her boyfriend Colin, who she describes as “my medicine.” But given his “very traditional” upbringing, Baylen’s Tourette’s sometimes causes awkward moments as one scene shows her blurting out that she’s pregnant in front of his parents.

“I’m not,” she quickly clarifies, before grimacing to Colin, “I’m gonna hide underneath this pillow right here.”

As a young adult, the reality star also reveals that her “number one goal is to move out of my parents house.” Though her mom knows she wants “her independence,” she notes that it’s “an emotional dance.”

To make matters more intense, Colin’s admission about his position within the United States Air Force could derail everything. “I have a relocation coming up. I could end up anywhere,” he says solemnly, before Baylen adds through her tears, “I don’t want him to leave.”

The situation prompts Baylen’s family to be concerned. “Does he want to drag her with him whenever he goes?” Sammi asks, adding, “Plane rides are already hard enough.”

In a scene of Baylen in the airport, her tics kick in and she yells “I have a gun” in the middle of a TSA screening after seeing a sign about guns being prohibited.

“They’re gonna send us to a back room,” her mom bluntly states.

Baylen’s life only gets more complicated as she navigates this new dynamic and Colin has a private conversation with her parents. “Baylen has no idea that I’m here right now, it’s hard to hold back the emotions,” he says.

As a result, Baylen’s dad warns Colin, “Nothing better happen to my kid,” and her mom says through tears, “I’m entitled to my feelings too.”

Eventually things threaten to bubble over when her parents worry she’s “going to over do herself” and she breaks into what appears to be a seizure in a following scene.

In a statement, Howard Lee, President of TLC and Discovery Networks, said Baylen’s authentic nature was what drew them to her story.

“Baylen’s realness and humor struck us right away,” Lee said. “Her fearless honesty about living with Tourette Syndrome not only busts stereotypes but also builds bridges of understanding. At TLC, we stay committed to showcasing stories that resonate deeply with our audience, and Baylen’s journey is the perfect blend of heart and mission.”
