Tiger Woods’ son still has some ways to go to reach his player status.

The 15-time major champion’s son Charlie, 17, has been following in his father’s footsteps, and is currently a competitive junior golfer — whose latest invitational didn’t quite go to plan.

In addition to the golf legend hopeful, the California native, 50, also shares daughter Sam, 18, with Elin Nordegren, to whom he was married from 2004 to 2010.

Over the weekend, Charlie, participating in the prestigious Junior Invitational amateur tournament at Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina, unfortunately finished in last place.

The teenager shot 26-over and finished 10 spots behind 35th place in the field of 36.

Miles Russell, who is No.1 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings, won the tournament at 15-under.

Charlie will be going to college at Florida State University

Both he and Charlie will be school mates come next year, as they have both committed to play golf at Florida State University. He is currently in his junior year at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida.

Charlie’s tough loss comes just as Tiger has turned heads over the status of his own career; he has been recovering from an Achilles injury and disc replacement, and he hasn’t played a tournament since the 2024 British Open.

Rumors however are already swirling over whether he will compete in The Masters, which kick off April 9, after a Twitter user claimed his private jet was spotted at Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia, where The Masters take place.

Tiger’s daughter Sam also occasionally plays golf

At last month’s Genesis Invitational, he did not rule out playing in The Masters, but he has remained largely coy on the topic nonetheless. Per The New York Post, after he was asked whether competing was off the table — he has won the coveted green jacket five times, most recently in 2019 — he simply declared: “No.”

Speaking to the media ahead of the Riviera Country Club event, which he hosts, about whether he’ll participate in any other golf events in the lead up to Augusta, he shared: “I don’t know that. I don’t know. Whether it’s regular tour, senior tour or member guest, I don’t know.”

Tiger is still recovering from a back surgery in October, one of several procedures he has undergone in recent years to address a series of ailments, some related to the car crash in February 2021 in Los Angeles that left him with severe leg injuries and influenced his decision to retire from playing golf full time.
