Authorities released an update on Tiger Woods following his terrifying car crash in Jupiter Island, Fla., on Friday.
According to authorities, Woods was driving a âdark colored Land Roverâ when he attempted to pass a utility pressure cleaner truck, allegedly clipping the âback endâ of the truckâs trailer, at which point it rolled.
Cops stated that the athlete crawled out of his vehicle following the incident, which occurred in the town in which he resides.
DUI investigators at the scene conducted sobriety tests. âWoods showed signs of impairment and refused a urinalysis test, leading to charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test,â Sheriff John Budensiek said during a press conference, noting that a breathalyzer test returned negative.
Photos from the scene showed the Land Rover on its side, and Woods making a phone call. The golf great is currently in custody in Florida.
News broke on Friday afternoon that Woods, 50, had been involved in the crash, per an ABC News report that emphasized that his condition was ânot immediately clear.â
The crash happened just after 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road, according to the outlet.
A source shared with Page Six on Friday that neither Vanessa Trump â whom Woods has been in a relationship with since early 2025 â nor Vanessaâs daughter Kai were with Woods during the incident.
The sheriff confirmed that Woods was alone in the Lander Rover at the time of the crash.
A rep for the athlete did not immediately respond to Page Sixâs request for comment on the crash Friday.
The five-time Masters champ had recently returned to the sport on Tuesday after more than a year away, appearing in the TGL Finals.
In February 2021, the 15-time major champion was involved in another dangerous rollover crash, this time in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in February 2021 that the athlete was âable to communicate,â but still âwas not able to get upâ and that it was ânot an option.â
âIt was very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive,â Deputy Carlos Gonzalez said at the time.
He suffered serious injuries in the California rollover, and as a result, underwent leg procedures and multiple knee and back surgeries.
Woods ruptured his Achilles tendon last March, and in October 2025, he underwent a disc replacement. He has received multiple microdiscectomies over the years, as well.
Back in May 2017, Woods was arrested in Jupiter, Fla, on suspicion of driving under the influence, with an incident report claiming heâd fallen asleep at the wheel and âhad to be woken up.â
Woods was later released from custody on his own recognizance.
Amid a cheating scandal that ultimately ended his marriage to Elin Nordegren â with whom he shares two children â he also crashed a Cadillac SUVÂ into a neighborâs tree, also in Florida, in 2009.
