For most members of the Royal Family, their careers are laid out for them from the moment they arrive in the world. However, this hasnât stopped them from having a range of rather unexpected career ambitions in the past.
From being a Hollywood actress to being a pizza chef, here are the royalsâ unexpected career ambitions and what they could have been doingâŠ
Prince George
Prince Georgeâs royal career ambition was revealed back in 2024 while enjoying a delicious pizza lunch at Wiveton Hall Cafe in Holt, Norfolk, shared that he wanted to become a pizza chef.
The cafe owner, Desmond MacCarthy, told The Daily Mailâs Richard Eden what George said when he was shown the restaurantâs wood-fired pizza oven.
The 13-year-old royal reportedly exclaimed, âThatâs what I want to do when I grow up!â Now a teenager, perhaps this dream has changed or he is still on his way to becoming a pizza connoisseurâŠ

The Prince of Walesâs former career ambition holds a rather bittersweet sentiment. According to royal author Robert Jobson, William once told his mother, Princess Diana, that he wanted to become a policeman âso he could protect her.â
Robert revealed this in his 2006 book, Williamâs Princess. âWhenever Diana felt uncertain, William was there for her,â the author wrote. âHe once told her he wanted to be a policeman so he could protect her. Her heart must have ached with love at his earnest words.â

The Duke of Sussexâs former career ambition was also inspired by his motherâspecifically, their regular skiing holidays. In his memoir Spare, Harry revealed he once considered a career in a fondue hut.
âFor several years Iâd talked in all seriousness about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg, where Mummy used to take us,â he penned.
âSpecifically, I wanted to work at the fondue hut in the center of town, which Mummy loved. That fondue could change your life. (I really was that mad.) But then I told Pa Iâd given up the fondue fantasy, and he sighed with relief.âÂ
Well, some dreams are not meant to become a realityâŠ

Prince Harryâs eldest son, Prince Archie, has, according to his father, shared many ideas for future careers. The Duke revealed in his Heart of Invictus docuseries: âWhen I talk to my son Archie about what he wants to be when he grows up, some days itâs an astronaut, other days itâs a pilotâa helicopter pilot, obviouslyâor Kwazii from Octonauts.âÂ
I donât know about you, but The Octonauts is a pretty serious career dream to me!

The Princess of Wales didnât enter public consciousness until her relationship with her now-husband, Prince William. However, in 2016, she revealed an alternative career interest.
According to People, Kate shared in a conversation with Bea Hodge from Wadebridge Young Farmers that sheâd âsecretly like to be a young farmer.â
âShe said she was teaching George and Charlotte all about the farm at Sandringham. Sheâs been teaching George the difference between barley and wheat and everything they grow on the farm there,â Bea shared with reporters.Â
âShe wants the children to learn all about farming and the apples in their orchard. She said sheâd secretly like to be a young farmer.âÂ
With all their land at Forest Lodge, surely this would be possible?

Meghan Markle really is a jack-of-all-trades: actress, podcaster, lifestyle girlie, and documentary producer. But back in 2012, she had a very different business plan.
Before she met Prince Harry, Meghan was starring in Suits, as we all know. But even prior to that, TMZÂ obtained paperwork filed by Meghan and a friend for a company called Lali, allegedly with the intention of selling their own line of lollipops and drops.
It evidently didnât work out, as they abandoned their application two years later⊠and you know what? I think sheâs done enough âgirlbossingâ since then that a lollipop brand doesnât even touch the incredible humanitarian work she went on to achieve!
