Gavin Casalegno’s marriage has helped him in more ways than one.
The 25-year-old actor currently stars in The Summer I Turned Pretty, where his character Jeremiah Fisher is part of a love triangle between Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) and his onscreen brother Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney).
While some may be Team Jeremiah and others may be Team Conrad, the actor revealed at a Valentine’s Day panel at Texas Christian University how his marriage to his real-life wife, Cheyanne Casalegno, has given him new insight into Belly and Conrad’s relationship.

“Growing up, I never understood the Conrad appeal, unfortunately. I think being an adult now, and just trying to figure out my life, it made me understand — while looking for life partners — the whole Belly and Conrad thing,” said Casalegno in a clip from the event shared on TikTok.
He believes that “having stability and having someone to do life with who is your best friend” is essential.
“You always hear about being friends first so when you jump into something romantic, you know everything about each other,” Casalegno said. “At the end of the day, sparks can fade but when you have a solid relationship and solid friendship, I don’t think people understand [it’s important].”
Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the next chapter of the love triangle, as Prime Video announced last May that season 3 would be released this summer.
The premiere will come months after Casalegno shocked fans by announcing that he had tied the knot with his now-wife, Cheyanne. At the time, fans were not aware he was in a relationship.
“FOREVER CAPTIVATED BY YOU🕊️,” he wrote in his November 2024 Instagram announcement.
Few details are known about their romance as Casalegno previously shared with Shondaland in 2023 that he has “learned to be more private, which is super interesting because I’m always out in public.”
“I had to really learn to navigate my own privacy and well-being,” he said, per Brit+Co. “So, the quick fix for me is just deleting Instagram and all these apps to kind of check out, to be with my family and be with myself, to spend some time with the Lord — that’s really where I thrive.”
