The Bachelorette is set to skip a season this summer.
Us Weekly understands that ABC wonât be airing the popular dating show, which typically kicks off around July each year.
While the network hasnât canceled the reality show and it may be back on air some time in the future, Us understands it is unlikely The Bachelorette will return in 2025 â but the option hasnât yet been ruled out. The reason for the showâs hiatus is unclear.
Itâs not the first time a show from The Bachelor franchise has been put on the backburner. Bachelor in Paradise was skipped in 2024 to air The Golden Bachelorette. The last time The Bachelorette was skipped was for its 2006 and 2007 seasons.
While Bachelor in Paradise did not film its 10th season last year. Instead, it will return this summer, ABC confirmed in July 2024.
âWeâre heading back to the beach in 2025! đŽ#BachelorInParadise,â ABC wrote via Instagram at the time.
Bachelor in Paradise debuted in 2014 and features former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants looking for a second shot at reality TV love on the beaches of Mexico.
The Bachelorette season 21 contestant Jonathon Johnson is confirmed to have been invited to take part after failing to win the heart of Jenn Tran.
Speaking on the âLightweightsâ podcast in January, Johnson, 28, said he wonât be DMing anyone ahead of his arrival in Mexico and will be keeping his options open.
âI know in the past itâs gotten people in trouble for DMing people, talking to people. I want no bad blood, I want no animosity hanging over my shoulders,â he said. âI donât want any pressure to be placed upon me before I can do it myself.â
He added: âIf somebodyâs excited to meet me, maybe they have said it, awesome. I would be more than happy to talk to them. I just want to go in open-minded and meet somebody, just clear slate.â
In October 2024, Bachelor in Paradise host Jesse Palmer teased details of what to expect when the spinoff is finally back on screens.
âI do know some of the ideas that are being pitched around. I know thereâs a lot of different stuff sort of in the Bachelor verse that theyâre putting into this,â Palmer, 45, told Us. âIt sounds like a lot of the old, and it sounds like there are some new ideas being floated in as well. Iâm really excited. I really missed going to the beach this past year. Wells [Adams] and I were hanging out a little while ago and we were both talking about how stoked we were to go back. So I canât wait for that time to come. I just hope maybe thereâs gonna be some sort of Golden iteration as well.â
