Leah Shirley is speaking up for herself.
The 16-year-old catches up with fellow Teen Mom: The Next Chapter personality, Cheyenne Floyd Davis, during a birthday party for Jade Clineâs daughter Kloie. As little sister Emily played with other kids, the teen shared the latest in her life.
After Leah mentions that stepmom Kristina Shirley was the one who taught her how to drive, Cheyenne says, âYou guys have a good relationship, from what I can tell.â She then asks if Leahâs friends know that sheâs on TV.
âOh yeah. People come up to me and they say stuff about Amber,â the teen says. âThey just like know whatâs happened and stuff.â

Cheyenne asks if Leah has spoken to Amber, to which Leah says, âNot really. I havenât really talked to her or havenât really seen her in a while.â
âIâm sorry,â Cheyenne says.
âItâs fine. I donât really care anymore. I like kind of want Kristina to adopt me. Iâve been wanting it for a while⊠Just because Kristinaâs been there for me since I was in kindergarten and even before that too.â
Leah also noted that when her biological mom is around, âShe acts like everything is perfectly fine. Itâs like, âI havenât seen you in months, why are you talking to me like this?'â
Cheyenne asks if Leahâs ever told Amber how she feels. The teen admits she hasnât because âIâm scared to.â
âObviously, she has a lot of different things going on, lots of difficulties. I just feel like I canât handle it⊠I wish I could.â
âYouâre a kid and you shouldnât have to,â Cheyenne replies. âMaybe one day, hopefully, you guys are able to at least talk and youâre able to at least explain how you feel â not to hurt her feelings, but so that you at least get to have your voice.â
In a confessional, the mom of two, who is trying for baby no. 3 throughout the season, says the situation is âunfortunate and sad.â
âBecause Leah seems like such a great kid and I could not imagine not showing up for Ryder, and thereâs nobody that could keep me from showing up for Ryder, nobody. Nothing,â Cheyenne says.
âThese past few weeks of like dealing with Ryderâs health, dealing with like fertility issues, itâs really hard to understand. I would be at their house damn near every day, trying to fight for my relationship with my child.â
Teen Mom: The Next Chapter airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
