Farrah Abraham has no regrets.
The Teen Mom alum, 33, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of her Diary of a Teen Mom comedy debut in New York City earlier this month, when she shared the one thing she would have told her younger self while she was filming MTVâs 16 and Pregnant.
âThat girl, all she needs to know is itâs okay to be a young mom. Itâs actually better than being an older parent. Sorry, older parents,â Abraham, who welcomed daughter Sophia when she was 17, said.
âI keep getting that shame, blame, reject stuff, and I donât need to. I love my child,â she added. âThereâs nothing to regret and ⊠I love being a young parent still. I love being kind of like an empty nester right now.â
Sophia celebrated her 16th birthday last month. At the time, Abraham penned a sweet tribute to her on Instagram, sharing snaps and clips from a mother-daughter trip to Germany.
âHappiest Sweet 16 to the one & only @sophialabraham đ To the star who made me famous at 16, I love you, Iâm excited weâre traveling the world together đ©đȘ Germany đ©đȘ this year,â Abraham wrote in her caption.
Sophia also shared her own Instagram post from the trip to mark the milestone, writing with her own post, âIâm finally 16 i canât believe it đ Iâm so grateful to be spending my 16th in Germany.â

Abraham also told PEOPLE that she is âbeyond proudâ of Sophia, whose father was her former partner, Derek Underwood, who died in a car accident in 2008, shortly before Farrah gave birth to their daughter.
âNow I look back, and Iâm like, âOh my God! Why did my parents let me do crazy stuff?â â Abraham joked. âBecause my daughterâs just so calm, not traumatized, and itâs just a beautiful thing.â
As for her daughter dating, Abraham said, âThereâs no concerns with her. She doesnât rush her relationships.â
âShe doesnât get lost in a fantasy of relationships at her age. She dates long-distance. We fly, they fly in, theyâre all homeschooled, and itâs just so peaceful,â the reality star added.
âWe all have very healthy boundaries, but we are very close, like close communication,â continued Abraham of her relationship with Sophia. âI mean, itâs just great. I canât even describe anything better. Iâm so blessed.â
