Teddi Mellencamp Says She Went on Second Date with ‘Cute and Nice’ Man 4 Months After Divorce News and amid Cancer Journey

Teddi Mellencamp isn’t letting her ongoing journey with cancer prevent her from exploring the dating scene.

Over a month after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, revealed that doctors found “multiple” tumors in her brain — two of which were removed the same day — Mellencamp got candid about her perspective on dating during the March 21 episode of the Diamonds in the Rough podcast with Erika Jayne.

“[I’ve] already been on more dates with new people,” Mellencamp told Jayne, 53, as they discussed a man she had been talking to around the time of her brain surgery.

“Well, I’m on a second date. So I went on a first date, pre-the thing, and then I went on a second date yesterday actually,” she continued. “He’s really cute and nice.”

In November, Mellencamp announced that she was divorcing husband Edwin Arroyave after 13 years of marriage in a message posted to Instagram. The pair share three kids: Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 4.

Just a few months later in February, the mom of three underwent surgery to remove tumors from her brain after “dealing with severe and debilitating headaches” for several weeks. She later revealed that doctors discovered three more tumors in her brain and one tumor in each of her lungs. 

In an Instagram update on March 6, Mellencamp said they were a result of her years-long journey with melanoma, for which she has had 17 cancerous spots removed — the most recent of which occurred in December 2024.

Most recently on March 16, Mellencamp revealed on social media that she was preparing to start radiation. The announcement came as the reality star revealed she had participated in an equestrian competition in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Given her current health condition, Jayne asked Mellencamp if the doctors said she could date again, noting, “I know that they told you that you could ride horses.” Mellencamp declared, “Yes!”

The two then seemingly began looking at photos of Mellencamp’s mystery man, whose identity she did not disclose. “I mean, he’s making a stupid face in this photo. But he’s cute,” she told her co-host.

“He is cute,” Jayne said, before asking, “Wait a second, okay. What are his intentions? Do I need to get on the phone with this fool?”

Mellencamp brushed her worries aside, revealing that her date initially didn’t know who she was or why Bravo fan accounts were following him on social media. “He doesn’t know s—,” Mellencamp laughed. “But it’s weird. He’s like so nice then I get panicked. But I have been on two dates.”

When asked how the dates went, Mellencamp said they went “really well” and noted that her date — who is 35 and “works in events” — had “been there” for her when she was at the hospital.

Calling him an “amazing caregiver,” Mellencamp added that the man gave her a “true hug” and even gave her “butterflies.”

“So we’ll see. Who knows?” she said.

Though Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave before her cancer diagnosis, he has also been by her side in the hospital as she undergoes treatment. The two even attended a workout class at Barry’s together this week.

In a statement posted to his Instagram Stories and main feed on Feb. 17, Arroyave, 47,  thanked everyone for their support, saying their “family is thankful to everybody for your continued prayers and well wishes.”

“Teddi is beyond grateful for the outpouring of love while she continues to recover,” his statement continued.
