Taylor Swift’s 2025 Grammys Look Seemingly Contained Multiple Romantic Nods to Her Lyrics: See Which Ones

Taylor Swift’s daringly sexy look for the 2025 Grammys was not without Easter eggs.

On Feb. 2, the “Cruel Summer” singer, 35, commanded the red carpet in a surprisingly sexy look that was not only fitting for the biggest night in music but also, perhaps, cheering on her NFL pro boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The ensemble appeared to include hidden messages nodding at her genre-bending albums. Let’s start with a throwback.

The bold red hue of Swift’s micro Vivienne Westwood corset dress may have been a nod to Red, which she revisited when she announced a Taylor’s Version of the record in 2021. Did the catchy lyrics, “Loving him was red,” replay in anyone else’s head as soon as she hit the star-studded event?

Swift’s 2022 hit “Maroon” also seemed completely aligned with Swift’s Lorraine Schwartz gemstones pointing to the lyrics, “I feel you no matter what/ The rubies that I gave up.”

Swift personalized ruby “T” thigh chain accessory was created by Swift’s stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer in partnership with Lorraine Schwartz, who also created the custom Art Deco watch by Concord choker necklace Swift wore to last year’s Grammys. The thigh chain could have been Swift’s own cheeky reference to Reputation‘s “Call It What You Want” lyrics: “I want to wear his initial on a chain ’round my neck.”

But those who’ve been following Kelce and Swift’s love story, which became public in 2023, might also think the sweet accessory was “So High School.” Many pointed out on the internet that the accessory mirrored the fictional romance between Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) in the High School Musical movies. (The famous Troy necklace still lives on our heads rent free.)

At the same time, the letter could also signify “Guilty as Sin?” off The Tortured Poets Department, in which Swift croons, “What if he’s written ‘mine’ on my upper thigh/ Only in my mind?”

Both songs would indicate that Swift not only intentionally referenced herself, but also nodded to Travis, who was absent from the Grammys. He and the Chiefs, who will play against the Philadelphia Eagles for the Lombardi Trophy again on Feb. 9, landed in New Orleans for the Super Bowl before Swift even walked the carpet in Los Angeles.

Swift’s glam of course featured her signature red lipstick, which is immortalized in her hit “Style”with the lyric: “I got that red lip classic thing that you like.” The songs “End Game,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Blank Space,” and “I Did Something Bad” also mention the star’s signature lip look.

The clues Swift left behind didn’t hint at a major album announcement like they did last year (although fans are eagerly awaiting a re-recorded version of Reputation and Taylor Swift), but it did leave us wanting more — and queueing up her discography on our phones.

This year, Swift was nominated for a six awards. “Fortnight” was up for record of the year, song of the year and best music video, The Tortured Poet Department for album of the year and best pop vocal album, and “Us,” her collaboration with Gracie Abrams, for best pop duo/group performance.

The Grammys are broadcasting live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS or stream them live and on-demand on Paramount+.
