Taylor Swift has broken another record!

Amid the release of the 2025 Grammy Awards nominations on Friday, Nov. 8, the Recording Academy confirmed in a press release that the Eras Tour singer, 35, broke a major record by becoming the first woman to receive seven nominations in the album of the year category.

Swift is nominated in the category for the fourth year in a row for The Tortured Poets Department, and this nomination breaks her tie with Barbra Streisand for six album of the year nominations.

Also up for album of the year in 2025 are André 3000’s New Blue Sun, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Charli xcx’s Brat, Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

The “Fortnight” singer’s six nominations this year bring her career total to 58, along with 14 wins so far. She’s won album of the year four times, with Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2016, Folklore in 2021 and Midnights in 2024.

Additionally, Swift has been nominated for album of the year with Red in 2014 and Evermore in 2022, though neither project took home the trophy.

Among her other nominations this year are for best music video, record of the year and song of the year for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, as well as best pop duo/group performance for “us” alongside Gracie Abrams and best pop vocal album for The Tortured Poets Department.

Swift made headlines at the awards ceremony in February when she announced the release of TTPD during her acceptance speech for best pop vocal album after she won for Midnights. As she accepted the award, her 13th Grammy — her “lucky number” — she announced the release date of the record.

“I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way. But I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans,” Swift said at the time. “So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out on April 19.”

She added, “It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you.”

Other top nominees this year include Beyoncé with 11 nominations — making her the most nominated artist in the history of the Grammys — Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone with seven apiece, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan with six and producer Jack Antonoff and country breakout Shaboozey with five each.

The 67th Grammy Awards is set to take place live in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025.
