Read her lips.
Taylor Swift had an icy four-word response to people who want her to quit making music.
During her Wednesday appearance on âThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert,â Swift spoke about how the people she looks up to all have one thing in common: longevity.
âCareer longevity, friendship longevity, longevity in their relationships â how do you keep a good thing going?â the singer explained after name-dropping Stevie Nicks as one of her inspirations and someone that she reaches out for advice.
âI think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity and there are also corners that are like âGive someone else a turn! Canât you just go away so we can talk about how good you were?â
âI donât want to,â Swift, 35, responded with a shrug as Colbert laughed.
The âOpaliteâ songstress made similar comments while addressing rumors that her music career would be over once she released âThe Life of a Showgirlâ and married Travis Kelce.
After being asked if it would be her last album, she told host Scott Mills in October, âWhat? No.â
As Mills explained the fan theory that she would retire from music after starting a family with Kelce, she continued, âThatâs a shockingly offensive thing to say. Itâs not why people get married, so they can quit their job.
âItâs like, I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music,â she continued.
âThatâs the coolest thing about Travis,â Swift added. âHeâs so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do, it connects.
âThereâs no point in time where heâs gonna be like, âIâm really upset that youâre still making music.â Imagine [him saying], âThe music that I signed up for, that I knew you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that,ââ she concluded.
During her Wednesday appearance, Swift also gushed about the love of her life, Kelce, saying heâs someone she often leans on and asks for advice.
The âLoverâ singer â who donned a maroon dress for the interview â also reflected on the possibility that she would never get engaged until the tight end came into her life.
Swift is currently promoting her upcoming Disney+ docuseries, âThe End of an Era,â which premieres Friday, one day before her 36th birthday.
In several trailers for the six-episode docuseries, Swift gave glimpses of her then-blossoming relationship with Kelce, as well as the grueling process of preparing for the almost two-year-long tour.
âThis is the biggest challenge any of us has ever done,â she said in one trailer while wiping away her tears.
The first two episodes of âThe End of an Eraâ premiere Dec. 12 on Disney+.
