F-View!
Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar became their own hot topic around ABC when they allegedly hijacked â20/20â anchor Deborah Robertsâ charity clothing sale last week.
Weâre told the ladies were so eager to get first dibs on Robertsâ used designer threads that it left junior staffersâ fuming.
The deal loving millionaire duo arrived as Robertsâ team was still setting up and, ârifled through, took the best of the best, then said, âsomeone will be in touch to take care of the bill,ââ an insider alleged to Page Six.
Not only that, but, âhours later, a producer called and asked, âhow much do we owe and whatâs our discount?!ââ
Roberts hosts the charity sale every year to âpurge my closet,â she explained in a video shared on Instagram.
The goal is to get rid of âthings that longer bring me joy â from clothing, to shoes, to maybe a tie from my husbandâs closet,â she continued. (Yes, some of Al Rokerâs ties were also for sale).
Junior staffers, who certainly arenât raking in Hostin and Beharâs kind of dough, look forward to the opportunity yearly, weâre told.
Hostin and Beharâs first dibs, pay later approach, âwas such a bad look,â the insider said.
âPeople were livid that these high profile, well paid stars were rifling through the goods before everyone else⊠and the sense of entitlement they exhibited by not paying. And then having someone ask for a discount!â the insider said.
The gall!
The ladies caught wind of the office chatter, and explained the situation on their âBehind the Table,â podcast with âThe Viewâ executive producer Brian Teta.
Hostin said she was out of the loop about the sale, until she heard about it through her glam squad. She then shared the details with her âsample sale buddy Joy,â after she texted Roberts, who told her she could come at 9a.m., three hours before the sale started.
âIn our defense, we bought a few things, but not as much as Lara Spencer,â Hostin said of the flea market loving âGood Morning Americaâ anchor.
Another insider familiar with the situation told us the ladies had to arrive early because they were taping two shows that day. They further claimed, the ladies werenât the only arrivals, and âJoy did not ask for a discount. She doesnât use venmo. She came back and handed money directly to Deborah.â
They added that tag sales are âone of the things [Behar and Hostin] do, as friends outside of the show, and they loved giving the money to charity.â
Behar called the watercooler conversations âcomplete and fake newsâ on the podcast, explaining, she only purchased four items, including Chanel earrings as a gift for a staffer.
Hostin added she only bought five items.
Roberts hosted the sale at ABCâs offices and charged her colleagues for the items, âbecause I can use that money to help organizations who are doing good things like Citymeals on Wheels helping elderly fight hunger and other good organizations,â she said in her video post.
A spokesperson for âThe Viewâ did not comment.
