Summer House star West Wilson gave his honest thoughts after being asked about Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula‘s split.
“It’s a weird world because their relationship has been so public,” Wilson, 29, said of his costars on the Friday, January 23, episode of the “Show Me Something” podcast. “But obviously, they should both be awarded privacy if that’s what they want.”
Wilson acknowledged how difficult it was for Cooke, 43, and Batula, 34, to end their marriage in the public eye.
“You almost feel like people feel entitled to your personal business because they’ve watched you be public about everything,” he noted. “My big thing would be to tell other people who are on the internet to be respectful.”
Wilson continued: “Even if this is what’s best for them and it’s all going to be for the better, it is still objectively a hard thing to do. It is probably so f****** exhausting. I can’t speak for them, but I am proud of them up until this point.”
Summer House has documented Cooke and Batula’s ups and downs since they started dating in 2015. After tying the knot in 2021, the pair hinted at delaying their plans for starting a family.
“We’re not letting the show dictate our lives or our future. We’re both not ready to have kids. But when we are, that’s it for us, and that’s OK,” Batula told Glamour in May 2023. “I know who I am with my friends and my husband and my family and our people. And whatever is being shown online, how people feel about it, is just a version, a small snippet of who we really are.”
Cooke and Batula announced their breakup in a statement shared via social media on January 19. Us Weekly previously confirmed in November 2025 that the couple were going through a “challenging” time.
“[They are] both committed to making the relationship work,” a source exclusively told Us before the pair attended BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas together.
Batula subsequently poked fun at reports that she and Cooke were living separately.
“Hey guys, it’s taken me a while to talk about this, but I just wanted to confirm the rumors that Kyle and I are living separately. This is my new house,” she said in an Instagram video in December 2025 as she sat in a children’s playhouse. “I just wanted to show you guys. This is my new house.”
She quipped: “It’s small, it’s kind of all that I can afford. I decorated for the holidays, I’m really excited. I could really use your support at this time and some privacy while we figure this out. Thanks so much.”
One month later, the duo released a statement announcing their decision to part ways.
“After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple. We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing,” read the post via Instagram. “It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter.”
Batula hinted to Us that her marriage was “at a crossroads” weeks before the split news, saying, “We’re figuring out what we want out of life and out of the relationship. We’re sort of trying to talk through that and figure it all out in real time. It’s going to be a very raw season.”
