Stranger Things appears to have fixed an editing mistake after fans pointed out the production issue.
After the hit Netflix series returned with part 1 of its fifth and final season on November 26, a TikTok user shared a video showing visible tape markings on the ground in a scene featuring Will (Noah Schnapp) and Robin (Maya Hawke). The tape seemed to be an indicator for where the actors should stand to hit their marks.
The moment went viral on social media, but it seems like the issue has since been corrected according to the latest version of the scene.
Tape isn’t the only mix-up fans have noticed in the new episodes. Viewers previously pointed out a continuity error in flashbacks of Will (Schnapp) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard).
“Jonathan once said that when he and Will built Castle Byers, it was pouring rain and they both got so soaked they ended up sick for a whole week,” read a post via X alongside clips from the flashback sequence.
The footage that was used, however, was during a sunny day — with both Will and Jonathan on good terms despite the circumstances. (Will and Jonathan created Castle Byers to distract from their parents getting a divorce.)
“It also makes no sense for them to act so normal when it’s literally the day their father left the house,” wrote a viewer.
Stranger Things, which debuted in 2016, focuses on a fictional town where a series of supernatural events take place and cause mystery and mayhem. The first part of the show’s epic finale ended on a shocking note with Will channeling surprise powers that allowed him to fight against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
“Once we decided we knew we wanted to do the Will power stuff this season, we knew that that’s how we had to end Volume 1,” creator Ross Duffer told Variety last month. “So there’s the low point of all the kids being taken, but the high point of Will has these powers. That was always the discussion.”
He added: “Vecna taking these children was the low point we needed for the end of Volume 1.”
Fellow creator Matt Duffer, meanwhile, addressed fan concerns that their favorite characters will be killed off in a season 5 bloodbath.
“I’ve said this before: The show is not Game of Thrones,” Matt told Variety after part 1 of the final season was released. “I’m hoping [the finale] surprises people.”
Matt specifically addressed the chances of an onscreen massacre. “There’s no Red Wedding, if that’s what you’re asking,” he said in reference to an iconic episode of Game of Thrones that resulted in several character deaths. “That would be depressing.”
Stranger Things returns with Volume 2 on December 25 and the finale drops December 31 on Netflix.
