In the wake of Allison Holker’s bombshell memoir, Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ family has the pair’s children on their mind.
When asked how the family and Holker, 37, can move forward in order to have a relationship with the kids, Boss’ mom, Connie Boss Alexander, replied in a Tuesday, February 11, interview with CBS News, “Extend the offer for a conversation.” (Holker shared son Maddox, 8, and daughter Zaia, 5, with Boss, whom she married in 2013. Holker is also mom to daughter Weslie, 16, from a previous relationship.)
Boss’ younger brother, Drè Rose, said he felt like the family had “extended our hand the past two years and there hasn’t been consistency.”
Rose claimed that the olive branch was extended outside of social media. “There’s many messages and phone calls where we’ve been left on read or not acknowledged,” he claimed to Gayle King on Tuesday. “So to me, it’s changed behavior. If you make an act, that shows kindness. If you embody the spirit that my brother had, of kindness and love and light, give that light to his family. If you want to help people, help his family heal. Because we’re going through it as well.”
The interview was conducted prior to the release of Holker’s memoir, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss and Embracing the Light, where the former Dancing With the Stars pro revealed new and personal details about her late husband’s alleged drug addiction and childhood sexual abuse. Holker received backlash from several of his loved ones for sharing the sensitive information.
After finishing the book, Alexander released a statement to CBS News, which read, in part, “Devastated does not begin to describe my pain. I am blindsided and heartbroken by the cruel, reckless implications in her book, which not only dishonor my son’s memory but also inflict irreparable harm on our grieving family.”
In a statement to CBS News, Holker said, “Connie has and will continue to be a positive and loving figure in Maddox and Zaia’s lives. From grandparents day at school, to family lunches, ice cream dates and [Boss’ brother] Cameron’s video game meet ups with Maddox, we hope to continue these traditions over the years and work together to keep Stephen’s memory alive.”
Boss died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022. An autopsy previously obtained by Us Weekly revealed there was no trace of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.
Following the memoir’s release, Weslie claimed in a since-deleted Instagram video that she had been in contact with Alexander.
“I speak to Stephen’s mom. My mom and her were speaking weekly at some point. I don’t know if it’s still like that. Me and my mom haven’t talked about it,” Weslie shared in a January video. “Since Stephen died, I feel like I’ve seen his family more than when he was alive. We would only see them once or twice a year.”
Weslie explained that his family “lives in another state,” which is the only reason why the blended family didn’t spend much time together.
“It’s not, like, we’re neighbors. It’s not, like, we could just see them whenever we wanted, and now my mom’s constantly making the effort so the kids are a part of their lives,” she continued. “I don’t make the effort, but that’s just how I am.”
