Venita Aspen didnât feel so celebratory while at a party at Craig Conoverâs house during the Jan. 9 episode of Southern Charm.
When Ryan Albert questioned the whereabouts of her boyfriend Manny Houston, she revealed that he moved to New York City and they broke up.
âManny moved to New York for Broadway,â Venita, 31, told Ryan and castmates Molly OâConnell and Rodrigo Reyes in Craigâs backyard. âOh baby, heâs not coming back.â
That news came as a surprise to Ryan. âI knew that he got the Broadway gig, I didnât know that heâs not coming back though,â he said. âHow do you feel about that?â
The fashion influencer simply replied, âIâm here.â
Ventia added that she plans to take things âone day at a time.â
âMy momâs disappointed,â Venita told the group. âAnd this is the only boy sheâs ever liked. And Iâve dated quite a few men!â
In a flashback to a few weeks earlier, Venita could be seen telling Manny, âYou are moving to New York for the next four months, minimum.â
âItâs probably going to be longer than that,â Manny responded.
Venita tells PEOPLE that sheâs ânot the happiest aboutâ how things unfolded with Manny, who she started after the conclusion of season 8.
âBut life moves in funny ways and life moves the way that you donât want it to sometimes,â she says.
With some distance from filming, though, sheâs started to gain some clarity.
âNow it makes sense,â the reality star says. âAnd I think Iâll do that a lot of times this season, actually. Iâll look back and be like, âI understand why that happened that way,â or, âOkay, this tracks.ââ

Venita still has a special man in her life, though: her dog Charles, who filmed with her for season 10.
âCharles is like, âYes, I love being on TV,ââ she says. âI know the audience loves him because I always get the cutest little DMs. Theyâre like, âOh, my little puppy loves when Charles comes on TV!â And Iâll get the photos of them watching the show.â
She also struck up a close friendship with castmate Jarrett âJTâ Thomas.
âJT and I, when we first did Watch What Happens Live, I think thatâs when I could actually see that the friendship that we had was blossoming,â Venita says. âWe got close over the summer, and itâs been quite the journey getting to know the real JT. Itâs been nice and refreshing.â
JT, has since resigned from Southern Charm, and Venita admits he âgets in his own way a lot of the time.âÂ
âI feel like last year he ended on a note where he walked in and he was just like, âI am going to show all these boys how to be a real man,ââ Venita says. âThis season, Iâm excited to see the guys and girls give JT a chance.â
Now in her fourth season of Southern Charm, Venita feels like âIâve become a veteran,â and, âI donât care about what people say.â
âI never thought Iâd be able to say that,â she continues. âI used to latch on to all the little negative comments and rude things that people had to say about me. And then Iâd take it internally and go down this downward spiral of depression. But Iâve now learned that that is a strong reflection of them.
Time has also taught Venita that like her breakup, everything viewers see on the Bravo show. Still, âitâs nice to be able to have that mindset now and be more open with the audience when it comes to sharing things,â she says. âIâm just like, âHey, listen, this is real life.ââ
