Sofia Coppola twins with mini-me daughter at glamorous NYC event

Sofia Coppola’s daughter Cosima was the spitting image of her famous mom as the pair stepped out in New York at the Marc Jacobs runway show. 

The Oscar-winning director looked chic in a black and white striped shirt, baggy black pants and a black coat over the top, while her 15-year-old daughter opted for a blue knit sweater, white linen pants and a black jacket to ward off the cold.

Cosima accessorized with an off-white handbag and black shoes, and wore her long brunette locks straight down past her shoulders. She stood at the same height as Sofia, with the pair looking like twins at the fashion show.

Sofia shares a close friendship with Marc and even directed his 2025 documentary Marc by Sofia. Her eldest daughter, Romy, appeared in a 2020 Marc Jacobs campaign at 13 years old, with the famed designer sharing how meaningful it was to collaborate with her.

“I met you, Romy, shortly after you were born,” he wrote on social media. “It is a beautiful trip watching you grow up and [become] such a cool and beautiful young woman. These portraits of you take me back in spirit to those good old early ’90s days where the beginning of a long and lasting love story first began.”

Sofia shares Romy and Cosima with her musician husband, Thomas Mars. The Lost in Translation director is well aware of the dangers of being the child of a celebrity, and tried to shield the girls from fame as best she could.

Sofia is the daughter of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, and her aunt ,Talia Shire, is an actress known for her role in the Rocky films. Her mother, Eleanor Coppola, was a filmmaker, as is her brother, Roman. Her niece, Gia Coppola, is an acclaimed director, and Nicolas Cage is her cousin.

“I don’t want them ever to be jaded,” she told The Guardian. “I never saw the point of taking little kids to movie premieres and stuff. I just want them to have a childhood.” During a speech at MoMA’s 2025 Film Benefit, she shared how different celebrity children were perceived in her youth compared to now.

“When I started, I was in my 20s, and it was the ’90s in LA, where I was known as the daughter of. This was before nepo babies were charming and most of them ended up in rehab, and I was the amateur actress who single-handedly ruined the Godfather films,” she quipped. “Most people didn’t think I had something to say that mattered, but I found a few that did.”

As for what Romy and Cosima think of her films, which include The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring, The Beguiled and Priscilla, she revealed that they are fans of her work.

“The younger one hasn’t seen all of my movies, but they begrudgingly like my movies,” she told Vanity Fair. “I showed the younger one Marie Antoinette before we went to visit Versailles recently, and she was like, ‘I liked it.’ She admitted she liked it, but of course, teenagers don’t want to like their mom’s stuff.”
