Contestants on season 27 of The Voice are in for an exciting surprise.
On Monday, April 14, the NBC singing competition show announced that LeAnn Rimes and Sheryl Crow are joining the show as this season’s mega mentors.
Rimes will join coaches John Legend and Adam Levine while Crow will join Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé as each team prepares for the playoffs, which kick off on April 28.
This marks Rimes’ debut as a mega mentor on the show while Crow is returning for the first time since she assumed the role on season 4.
Each singer will help guide the contestants through their most high-stake performance yet. After the playoffs, the coaches choose two contestants to move on to the live shows.
Last month, each coach invited a battle advisor to help them coach contestants and Bublé invited Cynthia Erivo, Legend invited Coco Jones, Ballerini invited Little Big Town and Levine invited Kate Hudson.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Levine and Hudson opened up about the experience.
“She’s so annoying. She can, like, do everything,” Levine said when asked if he knew about Hudson’s vocal abilities.
“I’ve known Adam since high school!” said the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress.
When asked if she ever thought he’d be a “rockstar” back in the day, she said she did.
“Yeah! You know, he loved it. His first band, they were always playing somewhere. It’s amazing to see his success and then to be here doing this with him, it feels very familiar, yet surreal at the same time,” she explained.
On Monday, April 14, the knockout round continues on The Voice. Last week, Legend stole Ari Camille back from Team Adam after he chose Britton Moore.
“Ari looked really confident and cool and stylish. I really think she exudes superpower and since I have the chance to bring her back to Team Legend I was like, ‘Let’s go.’ Come back home,” the “All of Me” singer said.
The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
