Shawn Mendes is seemingly addressing his infamous love triangle with Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello for the first time.

In a preview for Thursday’s episode of John Mayer’s SiriusXM show, “How’s Life,” the “Señorita” singer says that while he was dating “someone,” he reunited with an ex-girlfriend due to some “unresolved feelings.”

“Two days before going to hang with my ex, [I] express I’m going to hang with my ex because I have unresolved feelings,” he says in the clip.

In hindsight, Mendes says that “maybe instead of two days” he should have told her “two weeks” ahead of time.

Mayer then asks Mendes, “Is there something in all of this that you could say, ‘Yeah, I played that wrong?’”

Mendes reacts by saying the biggest lesson he has learned in life is: “No one gets out of this life without getting hurt and no one gets out of this life without hurting someone.”

While Mendes doesn’t name the women he’s speaking about in the clip, the “Stitches” hitmaker and Cabello, who first dated from 2019 to 2021, were rumored to have rekindled their relationship for a brief period in 2023 — after he reportedly struck up a romance with Carpenter.

Mendes and the “Girl Meets World” star were first spotted together in Los Angeles shortly after Valentine’s Day in 2023. However, by that April, Mendes and Cabello made headlines for kissing at the Coachella music festival and enjoying an Eras Tour date night the following month.

While Mendes and Cabello eventually went their separate ways — once more — Carpenter seemingly hinted at the love triangle in her album’s opener, “Taste,” which is about a man going back and forth between a new fling and his ex-girlfriend.

“I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you / If you want forever, I bet you do / Just know you’ll taste me too,” Carpenter sings in the song.

Cabello also seemingly reacted to the drama by posting a TikTok of herself lip-syncing to her song “June Gloom,” rumored to be about Carpenter.

“She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures,” Cabello sings in the song, which came out in June. “We’re a house fire, for sure / Hope it’ll burn out, but it just gets bigger.”

Carpenter went on to date “Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan, but they split earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the “SenĂ”rita” duo sparked reconciliation rumors, once again, after attending the Copa AmĂ©rica Final together in July.
