Severance’s Sarah Bock Says ‘Wonderful’ Adam Scott Was ‘Such a Dad’ on Set: ‘Always Carried Around Snacks’ (Exclusive)

It’s official: Adam Scott brings major dad energy to set!

The 51-year-old actor is a father of two — he shares daughter Frankie and son Graham with his wife Naomi — but keeps his family life very separate from his public-facing career. He’s not always able to separate the two, though.

“I feel like a lot of times maybe he’s cast as the not-so-nice guy — at least, that’s what he is in The Good Place — but in real life, I mean, he’s so sweet and he’s such a Dad,” his Severance season 2 costar Sarah Bock tells PEOPLE.

“He always carried around his snack bag on set and was doing word games on his phone that his daughter would send him,” says Bock, who plays the mysterious new Lumon deputy manager, Miss Huang. “He’s very nerdy and humble and a very amazing person.”

Bock, who is currently a freshman studying at Northwestern University, was admittedly “really nervous” to meet Scott, she says, “because The Good Place is my favorite TV show of all time, and he’s so fabulous in that and just everything he does I’m a huge fan of.” Yet, she can confidently say he’s “the most wonderful human being ever.”

The whole cast was a source of support for her, considering the major age gap. “I feel like a lot of people on that set — it was very parent vibes, especially since I was so nervous. They took me under their wing for sure, which I appreciate.”

There was some unavoidable irony, though, in the fact that her character, who works with Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman), is technically in charge of Mark (Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry).

“It was definitely a different experience to be the only kid on set and then also in the scenes have to boss them around because I just felt like, I mean, they obviously are so experienced and smart and have this wealth of knowledge about the industry and life in general, so I wanted to personally soak up as much of that as possible from them.”

She continues, “It was a weird shift in dynamics from before [director] Ben [Stiller] would call action, being like, ‘Where do you guys think I should apply to college?’ And then ‘Action!’ and [I’m] telling them to go to the break room.”

Since filming concluded and the show premiered, Bock says she’s been in touch with Lower the most, as the 39-year-old actress — and fellow Northwestern alum — has been “so good about checking in on me and offering support.”

“Sometimes I’ll just randomly get a voice memo from her and she’s like, ‘Hey, I’m thinking of you. How are you doing?’ And she offers a lot of advice.”
