Warning: This post contains spoilers from season 2, episode 10 of Severance.
The Music Dance Experience was all the rage from Severance‘s first season. Yet, the acclaimed show truly upped the ante with its latest epic musical moment in the season 2 finale.
In the episode that aired on Thursday, March 20, Mark S. (Adam Scott) finally completed the Cold Harbor project, which was intended to be his final task as a Lumon Industries employee. The clusters in each Macrodata Refinement (MDR) project he worked on were actually “tempers,” representing the “building blocks” in his outie’s wife Gemma’s (Dichen Lachman) mind.
With the completion of Cold Harbor, a celebration led by severed floor manager Seth Milchick (Tramell Tillman) commenced. It began with Milchick engaging in awkward and often uncomfortable banter with an animatronic version of Kier Eagan. But then, the real celebration began, as Milchick brought in the Choreography and Merriment department (which, basically, is a massive marching band) to put on what could arguably deemed an iconic performance.
The buzzed-about moment was exciting for Lachman, who tells PEOPLE that she “really wanted to” see the full live performance from the show’s set. Yet, despite missing it, she knows just how much work went into pulling it off.
“On some days, I could hear them rehearsing. The amount of work, costumes and props, everyone had to go to was just so extraordinary,” she explains. “I really did want to see it. I never got to actually see them filming it though, which it was a real bummer.”
“They rehearsed for a really long time. It was quite a commitment for the people who did that. It’s just so random and awesome,” she adds.
Lachman viewed the moment ahead of the March 20 finale date, but she’s ready to see it again.
“I can’t wait to see it on a really big screen because I think I watched it on my computer. It was about this big,” she says, gesturing a small laptop screen with her hands. “Severance is like cinema. You need to really see it in all its glory on a bigger screen. So I am looking forward to that.”
The finale episode came to a dramatic conclusion after innie Mark safely retrieved Gemma from where Lumon was holding her captive. However, he didn’t follow her outside the door he led her to and instead, ran off hand in hand with colleague Helly R. (Britt Lower) as Gemma stared on, begging him to leave with her.

“I think I read [episode] 10 just before we started filming [episode] 10 and 7. I just remember being like, ‘Oh wow, this is going to be interesting to see the reaction,'” Lachman says. “Obviously, the fans have spent so much time with Helly R. and Mark S., and so they’re invested in that. But after [episode] 7, they’re also hopefully invested in Mark’s outie’s relationship more as well.”
“It’s a really difficult situation,” she adds.
